PreMature Draft 2018

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Fri Sep 29, 2017 11:40 am

We are finishing the 2017 MLB and NFBC season. That can only mean one thing...
It's Drafting Season!
The PreMature E-Draftulation League has begun.
The PreMature League is the first pay draft for 2018.
In the past, I've updated these Message Boards after a round is completed.
This year, as timely as possible, I'll post the picks as they are made.
Maybe you fellas can 'suggest' who the next pick should/could be.
Or give opinions on picks made.

Should be fun for all!

2. Jose Altuve, 2B, HOU

Interesting start so far. Thanks for sharing. I'm already looking forward to the first 50-rounder for 2018. :D

Can't really fault or second-guess any of the picks so far, although I might have gone in a different direction on a couple of them. Seems like we are going to have more of a wide open first round this coming season than usual. In 2016, I felt like there was kind of a top tier with the first 3-4 picks, and last year, it seemed that most folks liked the same top seven or so players in some order. For 2018, I'm expecting the top tier to be bigger, and more folks may prefer to start around the middle or back half of the first round. We'll see if it plays out that way. Of course, once the season starts, baseball will prove most of us wrong. Keep up the good work, fellas.

Agreed Mike.
We are four picks in and we haven't seen last years typical top four picks in Betts and Kershaw.
We also haven't seen the two Rockies who will go in every first round in Arenado and Blackmon.
Goldy lurks.
Where does Bryce Harper get selected?
The Big Four Pitchers?
To me, Turner, Judge, Harper, and Stanton are wild cards. They will be selected at various points of different drafts.
It does make this year a lot more wide open.
Fun Stuff!

Intersting start, 7 players and you have exactly all 4 necessary infielders and all 3 you need to man the OF too. Funny how that worked out.

I can understand the question.
At the same time, I can see why each player selected, was selected.
As said, a deep first round.

One thing I find interesting is that 12 of 13 players drafted are from playoff teams.
Stanton, the only exception.

Really interesting so far. First round is deep. I'd be happy if drafting next (15th) and I honestly couldn't say that most years. (Think I'd go Blackmon, Correa here, but there are several others worthy of consideration.). While Kershaw went later than I'd have guessed, I'm not surprised to see the other three aces all go in the last third of the first round. Barring unexpected news, these should be the first four pitchers off the board in 99.9% of the drafts. What I'm curious about is when the next pitchers get taken and which ones go first.

Hate to be a prick here - and it's not like we don't all know the pool, but can we not discuss players still on the board? Thanks.

Criticizing picks, go to town.

Just don't think it's cool to drop names not taken yet. Maybe others don't care.

Maybe it's just me, I believe this league is different.
Folks are anxious to talk about the new drafting year.
There is no ADP and it makes it interesting for fellas to chime in and guess who the next names taken would be.
Same as an article written with replies in who they think will be taken next....
Just my two cents...
