NFBC Message Boards

Congratulations to the team of Mark Hesters and Dave Vidaver of Davis, California as they defeated 3,030 teams to win the NFBC Draft Champions National Championship and the $28,000 grand prize. Mark and Dave led their January 23rd team to a league title with 135 points and to the overall title with 26,612 points. That winning total was 87.83 percent of all available points.

John Pausma finished second, 170.5 points behind Hesters and Vidaver to earn $7,000. That margin of victory was just five-hundredths of a percentage point difference among all total points, so it was a very, very close race. Rounding out the Top 5 were Richard Kulaski ($5,000), Josh Shugart ($4,000) and Anthony & Michael Marzano ($3,000).

Mark and Dave drafted early in the off-season from the 5th spot in this 15-team format and started with Jose Altuve, Corey Kluber and Buster Posey. The good draft continued with Daniel Murphy in Round 4, Wade Davis in Round 6, Jose Ramirez in Round 7, Miguel Sano in Round 8 and Elvis Andrus in Round 10. Aaron Hicks in Round 40 and Tommy Pham in Round 48 were the big surprises later in the draft. Surprisingly, there was no Aaron Judge on this winning team!!

These guys had a great year as they teamed up on a handful of leagues. They won both of their Draft Champions leagues and won one of three Cutline teams. Two of the Cutline teams made it into the Championship Round.

Great job everyone and thanks again. We will start the Draft Champions leagues in November, so be ready to draft. We're just a little over a month away from the 2018 NFBC drafting season, so rest for now folks and get ready to draft. We're almost upon a new season!!
