Bill Phipps/Eric Kesselman Win NFBC Platinum & $120,000

It was a historic season for the team of Bill Phipps and Eric Kesselman as they SWEPT the high-dollar private leagues. Now in their third season, the duo teamed up to win the NFBC Platinum League, the NFBC Diamond Auction League and the NFBC Diamond League. Those were the only 3 events they entered this season and they turned $35,000 in entries into $270,000 in prizes. Great job guys.

Phipps & Kesselman dominated the NFBC Platinum from start to finish this season after finishing second last season. They finished with 132 points to win the $120,000 league prize and won the title by 27 points. They had similar dominance in the Diamond Auction League. Donn Johnson finished with 105 points to earn the $60,000 runnerup prize, while Rob Silver finished third to earn $24,000. There was a tie for the fourth place prize of $10,000 as Larry Schechter and Joseph Martens finished with 96 points. They will split that prize.

Bill & Eric drafted from the 8th spot and started out with Nolan Arenado, Joey Votto and Francisco Lindor. Other great bargains came in the form of Dallas Keuchel in Round 8, Elvis Andrus in Round 10, Gio Gonzalez in Round 18 and Josh Bell in Round 26. A $55 FAAB bid on Tommy Pham on May 28th worked wonders, as did a $1 Brad Hand bid on July 9th. They still had $64 in FAAB left at season's end because the draft picks did all of the heavy lifting.
