Sorry for this, but this new MLB starting schedule is causing all of us some headaches. We just have to work through them to make sure everyone who is supposed to be in the Free Agent list is there tonight when FAAB runs.

MLB's official 25-man rosters weren't official until Thursday and it took a little longer than expected to get those lists from our stat provider. Therefore, some players who were sent to the minors before Opening Day are still showing up right now in our FAAB lists. Just realize that we are going to flush those lists out yet today and if you bid on a player who isn't on the MLB 25-man roster and wasn't drafted in your league he could be removed from your bids before they run tonight.

Sorry for this last-minute update on free agents, but this new schedule hasn't been easy to deal with.

Here's the rules of eligible players:

"Free agent pickups during the season will include players who are on major-league rosters at the time or players who were selected on Draft Day and later dropped. Even players who were originally selected on Draft Day, cut and then sent to the minors are eligible during the regular season FAAB bidding period as once they are a part of that league they continue to be part of the free agent listing. If the players were good enough to be selected on Draft Day, they are then good enough to remain in that league's free agent pool.

Any player who is not on a team roster within your league and is on a major league roster or once was on an NFBC team in your league is considered a free agent for that league. Even players on the MLB disabled list are eligible to be picked up during the FAAB bidding process. The player pool is deemed closed of new free agents each Sunday at 7 AM ET before the FAAB bidding deadline and a player must have played at least 1 MLB game to be added to the pool at that time."

So if Victor Robles WAS NOT drafted in your league he IS NOT eligible to be picked up in free agency tonight. He needs to reach the majors again this year to be eligible via free agency. If he WAS drafted in your league and cut last Sunday, he IS eligible to be picked up this Sunday or any other Sunday after this via FAAB.

So can someone please explain why Miguel Andujar is available if wasn't drafted? According to the message above, he needs to play in a MLB game before 7am of this morning.

We even used Victor Robles for an example for the same exact situation.

Andujar was called up by the Yankees on Saturday night and played in the majors last year. That meets the criteria to be bid on today.

If Yasmany Tomas signs with someone and is picked up in FAAB he doesn't have to play one game in the majors THIS YEAR before being allowed to be picked up in free agency. He's eligible to be picked up right away. Same with Andujar.

The 1 game rule was put in place for prospects who get called up on Sunday morning or Saturday night and haven't played in the majors yet. This gives every owner the same fairness in bidding for this top prospect once he's played in the majors.

I don't mind if you dislike the rule, but I'm not sure why you think your way is the correct way. Let's take a veteran starting pitcher for instance. Let's say Jharel Cotton is called up on a Thursday and scheduled to pitch Tuesday and Sunday of the following week. Why should NFBC owners have to wait for this veteran (or any MLB veteran) to start THIS YEAR in the majors before bidding for him? As a 2-start pitcher, he could command a nice bid. He is in the player pool as soon as the A's add him to their roster.

He's already played in the majors and is being called up to start. He's on the roster before 7 am on Sunday. I think a rule like you are interpreting just hampers NFBC owners. It doesn't help our game.

Like you said in the past, nobody comes to the boards Greg. They can only go by written rules that on every team page. By the way he had 5 games played last year which doesn't even constitute he should be anything but a DH then according to your other rules if want to say he has already played last season as your excuse of letting him in this FFAB. Why isn't any other FA then listed on the page? Melky and Bautista played last year as well. Is it because they didn't start on a 25 man roster? Bc Andujar didn't either.

I interpret the rule as the have to be on a 25 man roster and have played 1 game at any point in their career. So Bats and Melky will be available as soon as they are on an MLB roster. Same as any other. If we go by your interpretation Dr. Who if Holland wasn't drafted he can't be picked up in FAAB until he plays a game this year? That's just dumb

Well if that's what the rule states then yes they should be available.
