Mikey To Chicago

Post by JohnP » Thu Oct 04, 2018 5:55 am

In another thread Mikey proclaimed that Chicago drafters were clueless and lightweight. Hmm. He does represent at least one of those attributes. I figured he needed his own thread (actually surprised he didn't start his own). This would be in bold and large type if I knew how to do that. Another thing Mikey is good at. I think though he is mistaken on the Chicago drafters. I have drafted in Chicago and LV and think Chicago has equal if not greater talent.

- Brinkmann - 9th overall main. Top 100 OC. Dual sport stud. Always on top of the leaderboard.
- Albright, Cosley, Diedrich, Vander, Lyons, Gruber, Rothe, Wyatt - the list goes on.
- Clemente - stud player as demonstrated again this year
- Grooms - this guy - killed the OCs once again, great player. 16 OC teams - and WON 7 of them. 8 of his 16 finished in top 100 overall.

Lightweight and clueless - ok. You are going to do NY and CHI at the same time? Attaboy. If you are serious about Chicago perhaps you should let the Sheraton know in advance so they can widen the doors to fit your big head through :).

Haha - in all seriousness - thanks for the props, you are mistaken on Chicago, and see you in a few months!

East Coast Bias even in fantasy baseball?
I usually agree with Mikey, but he is dead wrong in barking up this tree.
Unlike the way the prize winners were listed by Tom, Midwesterners are passionate about our game.
When I drafted in Chicago, I expected it to be a 'lesser' experience than Las Vegas.
The surroundings WERE lesser, they were more quaint or hometown.
Who cares?
It turned out to be the best small drafts ever (St Louis included)
The drafters couldn't wait to talk about baseball. Some of them even living baseball like I do. Heaven.
Believe me when I say these guys know their baseball.

Mikey in Chicago?
I would probably pay for the privilege.
New York flair and arrogance meets common sense and down-home dignity. AWESOME!

And I already know what would happen, Mikey would leave thinking, "Hey, these hicks knew a lot more than I thought about baseball" and the midwesterners would leave thinking, "Hey, for a guy from New York that shoots off his mouth a lot, that guy is alright in my book".
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

 You guys are too easy to bait! Although the idea of doing two live Main Events in both NYC and Chicago at the same time is intriguing. I must check in with my evil clone to see if he's open to it that weekend. Perhaps Greg should consider changing the date of the live Chicago Main Events so that more of us could make the trip out to enjoy the best of both worlds of the Windy City and the City That Never Sleeps...in addition to the benefits of the marginal competition that Pausma feasted on to win the title.
