Help Us Add Minor-Leaguers To 2019 Draft

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Oct 08, 2018 1:59 pm

The first step of preparing for the next season is getting the player default list ready for the Draft room and adding eligibility for every player. That includes minor-leaguers who likely will be drafted in 2019.

Everyone who played in the majors in 2018 will be on our list, but we need help with the minor-leaguers who didn’t play at all in the majors and likely will be drafted at some point this year. Help us compile that list now so that we can get them in the Draft room at the start of the drafting season.

Post a list here and I’ll compile all of the names in this first post. Thanks all.

Greg, can we just make this process so much more easier on yourself and the rest of us by utilizing the link below to this list? I think that James Anderson of Rotowire (an NFBC partner I believe) pretty much has you covered with anyone and everyone who we'd consider drafting from the minors for the 2019 season. And if not, I can't imagine more than a couple who might need to be added later that someone may dig up somewhere. This way you can get your default players list up to speed that much faster to get us up and rolling come November at the latest. Please advise.

And P.S., can we fix the message board glitch that causes your message to disappear sometimes when you go to preview it first before posting? It has happened to me multiple times now. I've started to copy what I've written ahead of time in fear of losing everything and having to start over...which of course would be a shame to deprive everyone on here of my posts for sure.

And still no change on being able to click on and access old threads and posts after searching them. You can find them, but you cannot get to them when you click on them. Any updates? Please advise.

Right mouse click and open the link in a new tab. That will work.

Thanks Tom. That did the trick. Hopefully when I post something to the new tab link it will sync with the new message boards and show up here.

Don't forget Yusei Kikuchi who may be available this year.
As Mike said, there are several sites that lists the top 100 prospects.
Add those, then others later as they are drafted. Voila! Good to go!
When do we get started on drafting DC's in the draft room?

Okay, thanks to James Anderson of Rotowire.com (who just returned from his honeymoon!!!) for giving us his Top 400 list. We have updated the position eligibility for NFBC in 2019 and will include a lot of these players in the player default list when we get started. This should help with the early Draft Champions leagues. If we're missing anyone let us know.

If you see players who made it to the majors in 2018, played less than 20 games at any position and yet played the same number of games at multiple positions please post them here. We can get those positions corrected before the draft room opens as well. For instance, if Darik Buchar played 6 games at 1B and 6 games at 3B, I'll have to manually go in and give him eligibility at just one position. That happens a bit in September and then we have to go in and decide which position he should qualify at based on games played in the minors. Thanks for any help there.

Okay, here's the position eligibility for these 400 top minor-leaguers:

Several of those players have already made their MLB debut, but all is good.
Kikuchi not on that list.

Correct, but I wanted to list their position eligibility for 2019 so everyone could plan accordingly.

Yes, who are the Japanese and Cuban players who likely will be signed this year? We'll add those too.

When do we get started on drafting DC's in the draft room?
Our hope is to get the site, Registration and drafts live in early November. We will know more after next week's IT meetings if that's possible.

And yes, the goal going forward is to have the draft rooms open sooner in the off-season for all sports. This past year has been a full time job just reprogramming every site and every draft room for baseball, football and basketball, while adding the MFL10s. We had almost 80,000 teams for the MFL10s and football and basketball (which started yesterday) had record years again, so the foundations are now set.

Now that all of the heavy lifting is done, we can start to tweak the software to make it even more efficient, while adding some new features. And ideally we'll be able to start working on the site even before the end of the current season so that baseball drafts can start in October and football drafts can start in January. We're not at that point right now, but that's the goal going forward.

We have a lot of exciting plans for 2019 and we look forward to unveiling them shortly.

While none of these are significant names, here is the list of players that I came across that played less than 20 games at any one position but played their greatest number of games at multiple positions:

Christopher Bostick, MIA - 2B/OF - 2 games
Andrew Romine, SEA - 2B/SS - 18 games
Andrew Velazquez, TB - 3B/OF - 4 games
Darnell Sweeney, FA - 3B/OF - 1 game
Jarrod Saltalamacchia, DET - C/1B - 1 game
