Well I will be a monkey's uncle. Never in a million years did I think Manny would sign in San Diego. New league, new city (thousand miles away from where he was rumored to want to live), and a last place team. Guess the money won out again. But here goes another Robinson Cano. Took the money and lasted 2 years before crying Seattle was not good enough. I know they have Tatis but they are not going to go bottom to top. Does Manny really believe they can ever knock off the Dodgers ? Wow !! Color me shocked.

I'm not surprised. They've been pursuing him hard and they obviously had the payroll to accomodate a big contract. I'm not huge on 10 year deals, but I think San Diego can become a contender very quickly. The farm system is ridiculously loaded and their everyday lineup looks pretty solid now. They were aggressively pursuing Kluber and it's possible AZ wouldn't care about dealing Greinke inside the division while in mid swan dive this season. If the Mets fall out, one of deGrom, Syndergaard or Wheeler will probably hit the trade market.

Supposedly, the Padres are still interested in Harper.
