Corner and Middle Infielder Eligibility

If a player who was not eligible for CI or MI based on last year reaches 10 games at one of those designations in-season this year, why is he not made immediately eligible?

For example, Casey Blake was eligible as only an OF entering this season. Through 4/19, he has played 1B in 6 games and 3B in 5 games. While he has not yet qualified for either one of those positions alone in 2007, certainly his 11 appearances as a Corner Infielder should qualify him for the CI designation.

Why does the website not allow such a player to be used at CI?

Can this be fixed before Monday?

I believe the rule is 10 games at one position. CI is not a major league position. You have to wait till its 10 games at 1b or 10 games at 3b. This is my belief

I would guess that it is because CI is not a position...just a name that represents a restricted "flex" position to be filled by a 1B or a 3B. Since Black has only qualified as OF so far...he would not be eligible until he hits that magic 10 in either 1B or 3B.

Correct everyone. He has to play 10 games at one of the corner positions to get eligibility there. CI means he's eligible at either first base or third base. Right now he's not eligible at either position, thus he's not eligible at CI.
