Win $20,000 In The 2019 NFBC Post-Season Contest

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Sun Aug 18, 2019 8:50 am

After a three-year hiatus, the NFFC Post-Season Hold 'em Contest returns this season. We are offering a $20,000 grand prize for this MLB playoffs game and basing prizes on 300 teams, fewer than in previous years. We'll pay out the Top 15 finishers. Let's sell this one out and keep this contest running for years to come.

Cost of entry is $150 per team and you can have multiple teams. The one change for this contest is that we will lock lineups starting with the Divisional Round Series, not before the Wild Card games. This year we are watching the AL and NL Wild Card game results before locking in lineups with the eight remaining teams. This gives us two more days of signups after the regular season and more certainty with the playoff teams.

Also, we will work with owners on payment if they know they are going to have money on their Player Accounts from the NFBC regular season. Our goal is to get winnings on your Player Accounts before the end of that week, but even if it's not there by Wednesday or Thursday when you want to sign up and we know that we'll be depositing those winnings soon, we can work with each owner to secure those teams in advance. Just contact me, Tom or Darik and we'll register you for those teams and take it out of your account before week's end.

Okay, now onto the format, in case you missed it.

This is a Hold 'em Contest which rewards owners for each additional round those players are on your team. You are limited to the number of players per team you can have on your team per round, but the points double for players who advance from Round 1 to Round 2 and then triple if they are still on your roster for the World Series. Picking the right players in Round 1 from the right teams is the key to winning this contest.

Here's the Contest link: https://nfc.shgn.com/rules/263

Owners will select 16 players for Round 1 from the pool of available players from the eight MLB playoff teams. There is no draft for this contest, nor any salary cap. You pick who you want and build your roster that way.

The starting lineup/positions will consist of 10 hitters and 6 pitchers, with the same positions and position eligibility of standard NFBC leagues, except for one less catcher. All 16 players on a roster for a round are considered "active." There are no bench positions.

1 Catcher
1 First Baseman
1 Second Baseman
1 Shortstop
1 Third Baseman
4 Outfielders
1 Utility Player
6 Pitchers

This is a points-based scoring system. Players can accumulate points in the following ways:

Hitters
Single - 1 point
Double - 2 points
Triple - 3 points
Home Run - 4 points
OUT (AB - H) minus .25 point
RBI - 1 point
Run - 1 point
Walk - 1 point
Stolen Base - 1 point
HBP - 1 point

Pitchers
Win - 4 points
Save - 4 points
Earned Run - minus 1 point
Strikeout - 1 point
IP - 1 point (1/2 = .3334, 2/3 = .6667)

After Round 1, owners can replace any player on their roster that was eliminated from the playoffs with another player. However, that new addition starts at 1x their points. All remaining players get double their points in Round 2 and triple their points in Round 3. Rosters can also be updated with new players before Round 3, but again those new additions start at 1x.

There are limits to how many players you can have per team per round of the MLB playoffs. They are:

Round 1: Divisional Games
Minimum of one player from each of the eight remaining teams
Maximum of three players from one team

Round 2: League Championship Series
Minimum of two players from each team
Maximum of six players from one team

Round 3: World Series
Maximum of 10 players from each team and minimum of 6 players from each team

Thanks all for pushing us to return this contest and let's extend the NFBC season into November, right before we open the 2020 NFBC drafting season. Finally, we are actually and drafting baseball year-round. Good luck and enjoy the return of the NFBC Post-Season Hold 'em Contest.

Re: 149 Spots Left In The 2019 NFBC Post-Season Contest

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Oct 02, 2019 8:14 am

Okay, we are down to nine eligible MLB teams now for the NFBC Post-Season Contest as the Milwaukee Brewers were eliminated last night when Josh Hader couldn't find the strike zone. One AL team will be eliminated tonight and then we'll have our final field of eight playoff teams.

You can start to set your starting lineups for Round 1 of our Post-Season Contest, but it won't save until we eliminate one team tonight. Lineups will save tomorrow morning and will be available to make changes just before the first pitch on Thursday afternoon. This should be a lot of fun.

We have 149 spots left in the NFBC Post-Season Contest as of this morning with 30+ hours to go. Let's sell this one out as we are guaranteeing the prize money, which includes $20,000 to the eventual champion. Thanks all and best of luck.

And be ready to draft once the World Series ends as we will be launching the 2020 NFBC site sooner than ever before. Draft Champions 4-Hour drafts are right around the corner!!

Okay, Registration locks tonight at around 4:55 pm ET before the first game. We currently have 225 teams entered into the NFBC Post-Season Contest, so still room for you to get in.

It takes a few minutes to set your Round 1 lineup, so secure those teams now and be ready to create that winning lineup. Thanks all and good luck.

We are just over 270 teams for the NFBC Post-Season Contest with about 90 minutes to go. Lineups will lock a few minutes before 5 pm ET, so don't delay if you want to secure a team and compete for the $20,000 grand prize. Thanks all and good luck.

Re: Win $20,000 In The 2019 NFBC Post-Season Contest

Round 2 of the NFBC Post-Season Contest starts tonight at 8:08 pm ET. Please lock in your second round rosters before then and best of luck in the battle for the $20,000 grand prize.

To move a current player to a new position (say 2B to SS), you have to first open up that new position. So if you have a Second Baseman that you want moved to Shortstop because he has dual eligibility then just bench your current SS. Even if you still want that SS for Round 2, benching him and then adding him back at a different position won't affect his 2x status. Don't worry, you won't lose the 2x designation because you took him out of your starting lineup today. The software will remember that he was on your team and will keep him at 2x even at the new position and even though you had to bench him first.

This is the only way to move a player to a new position. Open the position you want him moved to first or bench him first and then move him back at a new position. Either way, the software will recognize players you had in Round 1 and if they are on your roster in Round 2 they will get 2x designation even if you had to bench them to get them at a new position.

Hope this helps. Good luck all.

Doesn’t look like the 2x scoring was working for last nights game

+1 (I think), although I'm not 100% sure how to even figure out if the 2x is working or not. Can somebody point us in the right direction to show us where the 2x shows up?

Just wondering if there is a scoring issue that might be affecting some teams. I was checking the rosters of the top teams and the teams stats for #10 Kawazoe list everyone in the owner's lineup with X2 and includes players already eliminated from the competition -- Kepler, Meadows, Acuna and Bellinger -- as listed among the starters, and they are also designated as x2 players. Qbviously would be helpful to know the current rosters of all the teams to know what we're all up against. Thanks, Steve M
