Can someone explain the thinking behind having all lineups frozen 5 minutes before the first game of the week. For example, this week all lineups will be frozen at 12:30, even though only one game is being played this afternoon.

In the NFFC, lineups are frozen for each player, 5 minutes before their individual game starts. I think that rule works well. Why doesn't the NFBC use it? Thanks

Quite possibly, the tender tickle of tradition is rearing its sometimes ugly head here.

I see no reason for the deadline as well.

Thanks The five minutes before the first game usually helps you each Monday. As for applying that to all players, that wouldn't make sense since some guys don't play until Tuesday. And this isn't like football where injury reports are being gleaned five minutes before kickoff.

I think most football leagues allow changes up to game time or 5 minutes before game time. In my opinion could work with baseball too.

I looked all over for updated freddy garcia injury information prior to the 12:30 lineup deadline today, I couldn't find any. But due to the 12:30 squeeze, garcia owners are 100% pure gambling on whether he pitches. Same could be said for numerous players throughout the year simplying because of the early lineup submission deadline.

If a team doesn't begin it's week until tuesday, why does their players need to be locked in on Monday, in this case 12:30? Maybe I'm missing something here. Why does it work for football, but wouldn't for baseball.

No doubt, a later deadline would have helped here.

LOL... Wouldn't this be down Daily Moves again??

I'm not against any of this, it makes sense, but there would be some lineup moves that would occur based on the results of Monday, (like protecting a SP Win on MON by benching a guy like Padilla for a guy like Neshak), and that's not the way the game should be played IMO.

Not true, King. I'm reading an inside source has confirmed that it was no accident. Adam Eaton paid the driver to "run down any of the Phillies starters having a better year than me." Garcia was the first Phillies pitcher spotted, and thus took the hit.

In 2001, Eaton accidentally stabbed himself in the stomach with a paring knife while trying to remove the shrinkwrap off a DVD.

The Phils may be trying to catch the Cubs and Jays...the banes of fantasy coaching existence. These organizations keep secret, hide, and even lie about injuries. Even if the Phils came out with a "progress report" on Garcia I wouldn't take it to the bank.

As for up to the minute player deadlines, I think John has pointed out a loophole to big to overcome. If I had a win locked up on Monday, I may insert a closer or reliever over a starter based on that information.

Sorry, I was off doing a fantasy football league auction!! :D Yes, of course you can't run the NFBC like the NFFC as allowing players to make roster moves on Tuesday would have an adverse effect on player stats. They're different beasts. We allowed lineup changes five minutes before the first game on Monday to give owners as much time on Monday as possible to get player news, but there are about five Mondays a year where games start earlier than 7:05 p.m. EST. This is one of those weeks.

Put a reliever in on tuesday to protect a win on MONDAY!!! I've heard it all now!! Fox Mulder's alien shitt is more believable than that.

Absolutely true story. 1. Please tell me the movie wasn't Titanic.
