570 Teams For The 2020 NFBC Sprint Main Event

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Jun 25, 2020 12:20 pm

The 17th annual NFBC Main Event will look NOTHING like the 16 previous Main Events thanks to coronavirus and the GREED of the MLB owners and players. Instead of a 162-game marathon, we have a 60-game sprint. All previous Main Event signups have been deleted and all entry fee money should now be on your Player Accounts.

Because of the shortened season, we are offering the new NFBC Sprint Main Event at $1,200 per team and there are $50 for each second and third team after that and a total of $200 savings for four teams. We are calling that the Grand Slam Package. The list of available Online Main Event league offerings are on Registration now and you can always just sign up by TBD (To Be Determined Later) if you'd like. You can change TBD to any date and time later by going to My Teams and clicking the gear icon to the left of each team. Just select a new date and time and hit Submit.

We are shooting for 34 full leagues and 510 teams. As a result, we are guaranteeing the $100,000 grand prize and payouts to the Top 15 overall finishers. All entry fees will be refunded if the season is cancelled before 600 total games have been played (average of 40 games per team) and if the season is shut down after that time but before the end of the regular season prizes will be awarded to the current leaders in each league and in the overall. Let's hope for good health and a full shortened season.

Okay, here's the contest link and Registration link to the Sprint Main Event:

Re: 275 Spots Left For The 2020 NFBC Sprint Main Event

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Sun Jun 28, 2020 8:54 am

It's been an amazing start to our 2020 NFBC Sprint Main Event as we already have 235 teams entered with 275 spots left. Not bad considering teams haven't even reported for Spring Training 2.0. THANKS ALL!!! :D

For dates and times that will have multiple leagues, we'll obviously mix all signups in before leagues are formed. The process is the same here as it always has been: Leagues are formed 5 days from the draft date and the KDS deadline is 8 am ET that morning. Draft spots will be announced at the exact hour of your draft five days beforehand. That gives everyone five days to prepare their their draft spots.

If we have unfilled Main Event leagues five days out, we'll keep Registration open if we're close to filling it and set the KDS deadline for 15 minutes after the league sells out and draft spots will be announced 30 minutes after the league fills. That's why we always say that you should set your KDS preferences immediately after you sign up, so that you are good to go whenever your league sells out.

Thanks all and good luck. We're headed in the right direction and hopefully MLB can keep everyone healthy and safe so that we do get a full shortened season, if that makes sense. ;) Good luck.

NOW LESS THAN 200 GUARANTEED SPOTS LEFT in the 2020 NFBC Sprint Main Event league. That means we have 313 teams entered in the contest right now as we're guaranteeing a $100,000 grand prize. Thanks all and good luck.

Can you remind me, for the main event online, how far in advance we will have access to the draft room for prep? thanks.

The draft room opens after the league is formed and draft spots have been announced. So when the draft order is formed then the draft room is available.

Re: 109 Spots Left For The 2020 NFBC Sprint Main Event

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Sun Jul 12, 2020 9:47 am

We have over 400 teams now registered for the NFBC Sprint Main Event, but we're still well short of a sellout as we host our first two Main Event league drafts today. It looks like we could have 30 or more drafts over six days from July 18th through July 23rd, so if you have multiple entries please check out the schedule now. It's going to be a tight fit for everyone.

Let's fill up the Thursday night draft this week and then move forward. There's still room for you in the Main Event if you don't have a team yet. We'll keep a spot warm for you. Thanks all and good luck.

Re: 98 Spots Left For The 2020 NFBC Sprint Main Event

Okay, we are down to 27 TBD entries, so some of the leagues are starting to take form. I've asked those owners to lock in their draft date and time when they can as this is going to be one helluva jigsaw puzzle to fit together. Hopefully we can get it done, but this is NOT going to be easy.

Anyway, we're making progress and hopefully we can fill Thursday's league before seeing 30 or so leagues go off over the last six days. Good luck all and thanks for the early support. Now we need a few more owners to jump in and compete for the $100,000 grand prize.

NOW ONLY 75 GUARANTEED SPOTS LEFT in the 2020 NFBC Sprint Main Event. We are headed toward our 16th straight sellout, but we still have a LOT of work to do to fill each league perfectly. Thanks for helping us out, but we still have more work to do. Thanks all and look for draft spots shortly after your league fills because we are closing out leagues and moving onto the next day quickly. Enjoy.

Okay, we've created Sprint Main Event leagues for the following dates:

Tuesday, July 21st at 10 pm ET
Wednesday, July 22nd at 3 pm ET
Thursday, July 23rd at 1 pm ET

Draft spots for each of these will go out five days in advance at the time of the scheduled draft. Good luck all and thanks.

We are whittling down the available days and times as we try to get to 510 teams and 34 full leagues. Not sure if we can get there or not, but we're trying. Thanks all and good luck.

Re: 40 Spots Left For The 2020 NFBC Sprint Main Event

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Jul 16, 2020 10:07 am

Okay, here's the status report as of today: We have 40 guaranteed spots left in the NFBC Sprint Main Event and we have 10 TBD entries as well. We have 24 full leagues already, which means there are 10 leagues that are still needing to fill holes to close this out. That includes Saturday's 8 pm ET Sprint Main Event League, which still needs 7 more owners.

We're doing all we can to fill up these leagues perfectly and still get draft spots out on time. In some leagues where we will have 2 or 3 leagues, we may have to form one or two leagues early with those early signups and get draft spots out, while waiting for that last league to fill before announcing draft picks. We're getting late in the drafting season, so dive in soon if you still want to compete for the $100,000 grand prize and the prestigious overall title.

I know it's not ideal for some of you waiting for draft picks, but we can't form leagues with fewer than 15 owners. Thanks for your patience and with any luck all 10 of these remaining leagues will fill soon enough so that you can prepare for your draft spots. Thanks all and good luck.

Now that the 510 team goal has been exceeded, will the prize payouts increase?

Thanks everyone for the great support as it looks like the 2020 NFBC Main Event will sell out for a 16th straight season. We have surpassed 510 team signups so far, but we still have some work to do if we are going to fill 34 full leagues.

We currently have 29 full leagues as of this morning and have a lot of pieces to put together. It's obvious that some owners will either have to move to a different date and time or be refunded. So while it looks like we are over 510 teams, that might not be the case depending on how this puzzle fills out.

We are keeping Registration open for the Sprint Main Event and we'll especially leave Wednesday and Thursday's drafts open until we can fill them. We still have a lot of work to do, so bare with us and keep the signups coming if a league is open and not full yet.

And if the puzzle results in more than 34 leagues and 510 teams, we will add to the overall prize pool consistent with our percentage of each league paying into the overall prize pool. We aren't trying to be greedy, but we have no idea how these final openings and signups are going to fall at this point and we're definitely not denying anyone who signed up early a spot if they can move to an opening now.

We'll be emailing those who aren't in full leagues when needed, so keep looking at the lobby and move your entries to an opening if you have the chance. Thanks all and let's keep this train moving in the right direction. Stay well and enjoy everyone.

Amazing. In such a short time. Not blowing smoke up your skirt, but when MLB finally announced the "sprint" season, I thought you would be lucky to get 405 or 420 signups.

Congratulations!

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

No, THANK YOU to everyone who has made this year's Main Event in this difficult time a HUGE success. It really means so much to us that so many of you are supporting us not just in the Main but in all of our contests. Thank you all for this and let's play ball in a few days :)

Okay folks, we are in a good spot as we see Opening Day a few days away. However, we're not there just yet. We still have the final pieces of the puzzle to put together and I'm positive we can do it.

Amazingly, we have 32 full leagues right now and draft spots out to everyone in those leagues. We did a pretty good job of getting draft spots out days in advance to everyone, but these last couple of leagues we still have to fill will have a tighter time frame. But as long as everyone gets draft picks, that's what matters now!! ;)

So as you can see from Registration we have three more leagues that have a really good chance of filling and maybe we get one more after that. We need two more leagues for a sellout, so that's the goal. We have no idea how this is going to land, but I'm confident we get there and maybe even 1 or 2 more leagues, providing more for the overall prize pool. I'm not even thinking about us falling short.

Here's what is left on the schedule:

10 Spots Left - Monday, 10 pm ET
4 Spots Left - Wednesday, 1 pm ET
6 Spots Left - Wednesday, 8 pm ET
12 Spots Left - Thursday, 1 pm ET
6 Spots Left - Thursday, 11:55 pm ET

That's it. Thanks to everyone for all the support and love you gave the Sprint Main Event. This has all come together in the last four weeks after we had to refund 535 original Main Event entries. A sellout for 2020 with a $100,000 grand prize was a tough outlook four weeks ago, but today I see it on the horizon and beyond. Let's do this.

Thanks all and good luck in all of your leagues this year. Baseball will be here five days from now and I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Stay well.
