14 Spots Left: NFBC $1,000 4-Hour Draft Champions 2.

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Jan 05, 2021 9:35 am

The NFBC Draft Champions National Championship set a record last year with 4,250 teams as Rob DiPietro bested everyone for the $30,000 grand prize. Rob became our 10th different DC national champion since this contest was started in 2011.

So let's do it again and see if there's an 11th different champion waiting to take the crown in 2021 or if we'll have our first two-time champion.

The Draft Champions is a favorite contest of so many players because there is no FAAB involved. These are 15-team, 50-round drafts with no FAAB. What you draft is what you get for the season. Your job after Draft Day is to set the right starting lineup every week for 27 weeks. You manage the 50-man roster you drafted with no trades and no free agent pickups.

We are shooting for around 250 leagues this year and are guaranteeing the $30,000 grand prize while paying the Top 40 teams overall. The Top 3 teams in each league will also earn prize money.

We have price ranges of $150 per team, $400 per team and $1,000 per team. The league prizes are different for each price point, but each league pays exactly the same amount to the overall prize pool, so everyone is eligible to compete for the $30,000 grand prize and the overall prizes from each of the different price points. Live Scoring and Live Standings will include teams from every price point as they battle for thousands of points in each of the 10 scoring categories.

We also offer two forms of drafts: Express leagues and slower drafts. The Express Leagues start and finish in one night at 1 minute per pick. They usually take around 4 hours to complete all 50 rounds. The slower formats allow 30 minutes per pick, 1 hour per pick, 2 hours per pick and 4 hours per pick. The clock will be cut in half for the 2 hour and 4 hour drafts starting in Round 31 and these can get done anywhere from 7 to 17 days. Our goal is to get through 3-4 rounds per day no matter the format. The clock will pause between 2 am ET and 8 am ET, but owners can still make picks during the pause. The software has multi-round auto-pick features and multiple round queues to help you keep the drafts rolling even if you aren't near a computer. Use those tools if you can.

Also, KDS runs 15 minutes after the league sells out and the draft starts 30 minutes after the league sells out. Always set your KDS preferences in advance and be ready to draft once the league is full.

Each year we sell out about three $1,000 Draft Champions Leagues, which have an $8,000 league prize and is part of the overall prize pool which has a $30,000 grand prize. We'll keep track of those signups in this separate thread. The first DC will start 30 minutes after the league fills. We also start a $1,000 DC on the first day that pitchers and catchers report to spring training, so look for that one on February 15th. We should fill one more slow $1,000 DC in March. Good luck all and enjoy.
