NFBC Cutline Best Ball Championship Plans For 2022

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Mar 10, 2021 2:05 pm

I know it's waaaaaaaay too early to start planning for 2022, but we made a pretty significant change to the NFFC Cutline Championship this year that we will transition to the NFBC Cutline next year. I didn't want everyone to see the move we made in football and have to wonder why we waited until next year to implement in baseball, so here's the explanation.

Basically, we came up with an idea that we think will strengthen this hybrid Best Ball Championship and as soon as we finalized this plan we decided to make it work right away in the upcoming football season. I'll give credit to Darik, who came up with the plan. We've all been hearing through the years how much people like the Cutline Best Ball format and the big grand prize, but yet it's really a lottery ticket because the one league prize is so small that it's tough to make your money back. Yet the lure of the lottery ticket -- the grand prize -- makes this contest so appealing.

So we thought that maybe we could address that problem with a slight change to the entry fee. So starting with the 2021 NFFC Cutline Championship, we are increasing the entry fee to $175, but a 3-pack, 6-pack or 9-pack can lower that cost to around $153 per team.

In return, we are now paying the Top 2 teams in each league of the NFFC Cutline this way:

1st Place - $350
2nd Place - $150

That's adding $225 in league prizes on the possible extra $250 in entry fees (not counting discounts through Special Packages). We want to strengthen the league prizes and are really giving all of it back within the league, while keeping the overall prizes the same. We think this will strengthen this contest and help us grow even more than this year's expected 1,900+ teams. In fact, the change could also increase the overall prize pool and the grand prize in 2022 with more teams.

Now, who thinks they can't finish Top 2 in a 10-team league, right? This is like easy money, while still having a shot at the $75,000 lottery ticket.

Enjoy and now if you finish second in your league you definitely get your entry fee back and maybe more.

We are bullish on the Best Ball contest and the Cutline in baseball is now joined by the debut Best Ball 12 private leagues, which are doing very well. We want to add as many Best Ball options as possible in baseball because this is a growing segment of the industry.

So enjoy the added prizes, even at the expense of a slightly higher price point. But we really think this will strengthen this contest because before it really was a lottery ticket. Now you can double your money AND win the lottery.

This is for 2022, NOT THIS YEAR. Thanks all and we look forward to your feedback. Hopefully this is a change that really takes this contest to another level. Enjoy and good luck this year in the Cutline Best Ball Championship.
