aside from all the eligibility and whining I am really impressed with Mr Cust...he looks like he is fitting in perfectly with the A's and their style of play....

If Cust continues to be a run-producing player as well as get on-base, then it would certainly be in the best interest for the A's to stick with Cust.

I have a feeling there might be a platoon DH situation but it's clear to me that Piazza simply is not a very good run producer anymore.

It's been 5 years since he had a season with more than 68 rbi's (I know injuries play a small part). He had only 8 rbi's in 103 at-bats this year (Cust has 20 rbi's in only 55 at-bats)

The A's need to do the right thing. Either trade Piazza for nothing to get rid of that contract or sit him.

I'm sure people will question whether Cust will keep it up (he surely won't), but he is still a better option than Piazza who is probably due for retirement.

The last thing the A's are worried about is having too many healthy players at the same time. I wouldn't worry about it as a Cust owner either. If he is one of the best run producers on the team at that time they will find a way to get his bat in the lineup.
