$50/50 Team Main Event Qualifiers Return April 16th

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Apr 06, 2021 12:36 pm

We know that Draft Day is already finished in the NFBC for 2021, but that doesn't mean that all of our contests are done. We still have some plans for a few in-season contests, including the return of our NFBC $50/50 Teams Contest.

We debuted this one in 2018 and we'll run it again just like we have in the past on the Fanball.com site and will feature their scoring rules. This daily contest will be held every Friday night starting on Friday, April 16th and will include a max of 50 teams at $50 per team. We will also limit each owner to a max of three teams. The weekly slate will include all Friday evening games.

The winner of each weekly contest will earn a FREE 2022 NFBC Main Event entry and we'll pay the top 3 teams accordingly:

1st Place - Free 2022 NFBC Main Event entry ($1700 value)
2nd Place - $300
3rd Place - $100

I will post the contest link as soon as we create this contest next week.

Here's the rules at Fanball:

Rules
In Fanball salary cap contests, entrants create a lineup by using players listed in the Player Pool to fill each defined roster requirement. All players have an assigned salary, and a valid roster will not have a salary cap that exceeds $55,000. In addition, the Player Pool will consist of all players expected to be on the active rosters for any team listed in the contest's event set.

Contest results will be determined by the total points accumulated by each individual lineup entry based on the scoring system detailed below.

Scoring
Pitchers
Inning Pitched (IP) 1.5
Strikeout (K) 2
Win (W) 6
Quality Start (QS) 6
Complete Game (CG)* 2
Complete Game Shut Out (CGSO)* 4
No-Hitter (NH)* 8
Perfect Game (PG)* 10
*Bonus points for pitching (CG, CGSO, NH, PG) do not stack, meaning if a pitcher throws a perfect game, he only gets the 12 points even though a PG is also technically a CG, CGSO, and NH.

Hitters
Single (1B) 4
Double (2B) 8
Triple (3B) 10
Home run (HR) 12
Run Batted In (RBI) 4
Run (R) 3
Base on Balls (BB) 2
Hit by Pitch (HBP) 1
Stolen Base (SB) 9
Hit for Cycle (CYC) 12

Roster Requirements
Rosters will consist of 9 players and must include players from at least 2 different MLB teams from at least 2 different MLB games. In addition, no more than 5 players from one team are permitted on rosters.

The 9 Roster positions are:

P (SP/RP)
C
1B
2B
3B
SS
OF (LF/CF/RF)
OF (LF/CF/RF)
UTIL (C/1B/DH/2B/3B/SS/LF/CF/RF)

We will run this contest each Friday as long as there is demand. Rosters should be available on Thursdays with salaries and it will be open to the first 50 teams. It will be NFBC exclusive as long as possible, but if there are still openings by Friday afternoon we will put it in the Fanball lobby for anyone to enter. The goal is to fill 50 spots per week for as many weeks as demand is there.

Good luck all and hopefully many of you will be able to turn $50 into a FREE 2022 NFBC Main Event entry. Thanks all and enjoy.

NEW THIS YEAR: We are going to try a second NFBC/Fanball contest this year as well to give everyone a shot at a FREE entry. This one will be held every Tuesday night as long as demand warrants.

Our NFBC $10/50 Teams Contest will be held every night and the winner of that contest will win a FREE 2022 Rotowire Online Championship entry. This contest will be limited to 50 teams at $10 per team and we'll pay the Top 3 finishers. Prizes include:

1st Place - Free 2020 Rotowire Online Championship entry ($350 value)
2nd Place - $50
3rd Place - $20

This contest will start on Tuesday, April 13th and will also limit each owner to a max of three teams. The first 50 signups will close out this league and we'll keep running it as long as demand warrants. Rules and scoring are the same as the $50/50 Teams Contest.

This off-season, we filled 21 Main Event Qualifier leagues and 56 Rotowire Online Championship Qualifier leagues. At season's end, they will be the first 21 entrants in the 2022 NFBC Main Event and the first 56 entrants in the 2022 Rotowire Online Championship league. We would love to add to those lists through these weekly NFBC/Fanball contests and I think we will. Hopefully these become so popular that we run them each week through the summer.

Thanks all and enjoy. We'll post contest links here once they are created next week. Good luck.
