NFBC New York Returns To Stewart Hotel March 31-April 2

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Mar 11, 2022 10:44 am

Now that we finally have a new Opening Day for the 2022 season -- Thursday, April 7th -- it's time to reschedule our New York live events at the Stewart Hotel and have a record year there. This is the first time in a long time that the New York live events will be the weekend before Opening Day, so let's fill up the house!!!

Right now we have space at the Stewart Hotel from Thursday, March 31st through Saturday, April 2nd. All of the convention space at the Stewart Hotel is reserved on Sunday, April 3rd, so we can't host anything there on that day. It's unfortunate, but we are so happy that the Stewart Hotel could move our previous date to this new date without any penalties or problems. We're grateful for the way they have treated us in 2020, 2021 and once again in 2022.

So let's get right down to the details:

** First of all, there's no vax mandate or mask mandate in New York City anymore. No restrictions other than you must know your baseball and you must buy me and Tom at least one drink during the weekend!!

** The MTM Ultimate Invitational League has been moved to Saturday, April 2nd at 6 pm ET from its normal Friday spot. I just got off the phone with Rob at SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio and they think they will still be able to cover this league remotely from 5-9 pm ET. It's not final yet, but we think this will happen again and it would be great to feature this great league on the air again.

** We know that getting into the city on a Thursday night might be rough, but we wanted to schedule a third day there anyway and take our chances. We have a Main Event set up there for 7 pm ET and an Auction Championship league there for 6 pm ET. If you're coming to the City, we might as well make it worth your time.

** Friday is set up for auctions again at 9 am and 2:30 pm ET, but we'll then offer a Friday night Main Event league that starts at 8 pm ET (so the 2:30 guys can still do this) and we'll have another $1500 Auction Championship league starting at 6 pm ET. We will fill only one of each on Friday night so that they are on opposite sides of the big ballroom. Now we have three chances to draft a Main Event league live in New York City: Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday at noon ET.

** We have filled five Auction Championship leagues each year in New York City and will have one on Thursday night, three on Friday and one on Saturday. I know it's a tight schedule to get them all filled, but we'll do our best. The Friday 9 am $1500 Auction Championship league is almost filled and the 2:30 pm ET $2500 Auction Championship league is filled. Let's get busy on the rest of them.

Tom and I will be there by Thursday if there's any gathering to be had during lunch time. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing everyone that weekend and I'd love to have a full house all the way through in the Big Apple.

Thanks all and stay well. BASEBALL IS BACK!!!

I remain hopeful that New York City will be vibrant for our NFBC live events at the Stewart Hotel now that these events will happen the weekend before Opening Day. For us to keep hosting in New York City, we need more than 1-2 live auction leagues and 1-2 Main Event leagues, so let's get the old gang back together and fill these up so that we can keep returning to the Big Apple.

We expect 2-3 Main Event leagues on Saturday at noon and we'd love to get 1-2 Main Event leagues on Friday, April 1st at 8 pm ET. We currently have only one full Auction League in the Big Apple when we normally get 5 auction leagues there. We're not giving up hope and I'd love to fill the Friday 9 am $1500 Auction Championship league and I think we can definitely fill a Saturday $1500 Auction Championship league after the Main Event. We just need the old gang to come into the city for a fun day of live events.

Again, we're not giving up on New York City just yet, but we need your help. We also aren't giving up on the Auction Championship concept, but right now that contest is falling woefully short of goals. We knew that 2021 was going to be rough for live auctions, but we didn't expect 2022 to follow suit. Hopefully we can get a late rush in New York City and still get a few more full leagues.

Okay, first the Main Event. Let's get a couple of full leagues each day and have some fun in the Big Apple. Here's the current signup lists:

A big THANK YOU to everyone who attended our Live Events in Las Vegas. A fantastic time was had by all for four days at the beautiful Bellagio. But we're not done with our Live Events by any means. Greg and I are headed to New York on Wednesday and we'll close out the 2022 Live Event schedule with two days of action at the Stewart Hotel in New York City. Here's the plan:

All events will be held in the Fitzgerald Ballroom. When you enter the hotel and go into the main front desk area, the ballroom will be up the stairs on your left. Here's the schedule for our two days of events in NY:

FRIDAY APRIL 1
9 am ET - $1,500 Auction
2:30 pm ET - $2,500 Auction
8 pm ET - Main Event

SATURDAY APRIL 2
Noon ET - Main Event
6 pm ET - MTM Ultimate

The MTM Ultimate Invitational will cap off the New York live events this year with this 15-team private league starting at 6 pm ET at the Stewart Hotel. This is a $5,000 entry fee with a $40,000 league prize.

This draft will also be broadcast live on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio from 6-10 pm ET and we'll have a public draft board for everyone to watch it. Kyle Elfrink, Ray Flowers and Jim Bowden will be on the call for four hours and we'll have interviews with MTM, defending champion Scott Fleming and other participants.

This should be a ton of fun and a great draft. The exposure on SiriusXM the weekend before Opening Day won't hurt the NFBC at all, either. Win-win for everyone.

Good luck everyone and enjoy.
