To my fellow Lugo owners, I'm curious how you're dealing with his .197 batting average. I keep riding it out, convinced that he's got to turn it around at some point. Alas, the 0-for-fours keep on coming. How many of you have benched him? Has anyone released him yet? ... A curious thing about Lugo's miserable season to date is that he has 19 steals without being caught and is on pace for 43 SB, well exceeding my projection of 25. (My projection was conservative given the Red Sox tendency not to run.) He also is on pace to exceed my projection for RBIs and more or less is on pace to match his HR projection. Unfortunately, his pace is 32 runs short of expected and a whopping 88 points off in batting average. Given the same number of at-bats, if Lugo were hitting my projected .285, my overall TEAM batting average would be a full 7 points higher!

Lugo's BB-rate and K-rate are right on career norms. But his BABIP screams unlucky. Here they are for the past 4 years: 0.315, 0.327, 0.327, 0.314 -- pretty consistent. This season, it is a full 100 points off his norm - 0.217.

His GB rate is a 5-season high at 1.7, but one would think with his speed, that mighthelp, not hurt.

The missing piece is LD-rate, but I don't have that handy, I'll see if I can get it later.

Even if he is hitting fewer liners, there is still some serious correction coming Lugo's way.

I have him in the Content Panel League and I am in dead last place with BA as I have him, Ross (expected but not this bad), Uribe (ditto), Kinsler, Laird and Delgado.

For a MI, his SB are good with R, and RBI are pretty decent. If he goes through any sort of correction that will bring him to his historical .270 to .280 range, he becomes a four category contributor (or three and his BA doesn't hurt you). I certainly do not have that lounging on my bench (OK, Aaron Hill, but he is due an adjustment the other way) or in the FA pool. I am stuck with him so I am going to stick with him.

Hey if he can hit 240 this year he's still worth it, the runs and rbi's are there and his 19 for 19 in steals is way more than you could have asked.Maybe over 40, and that's his value.
