Bob Cramutola of College Grove, Tennessee won the 2022 NFBC Main Event title and the record $175,000 grand prize as he topped a record field of 705 teams for this prestigious title. Bob becomes our 18th different Main Event champion since 2004, with only NFBC Hall of Famer Lindy Hinkelman winning this overall title twice.

Bob held off Steven Weimer to win the title by 88 points, but the most amazing thing is that Bob didn't even win his league title. Bob and Steve were in the same March 29th Main Event Online league and Steve won the league title with 135.5 points with Bob finishing second with 135 points. That has never happened before in Main Event history when our national champion didn't even win his league title. These two players battled all year long for the overall and league titles and in the end Bob won the $175,000 grand prize and Steve won the $7,000 league prize and the $40,000 runner-up overall prize.

Bob had an incredible 2022 season as he won seven Rotowire Online Championship league titles (including our only $1500 OC) and three Draft Champions league titles. He has actually been playing in the NFBC for only three seasons, having joined the NFBC in 2020 when he jumped into several Best Ball Cutline championship leagues, before adding some Sprint Main Event and Sprint Online Championship teams. Yeah, the Covid Year, if you remember. He then jumped into the Main Event and Rotowire Online Championship heavily in 2021 and this year he won the Main Event overall title during only his third season in this format. Amazing.

Bob is still looking for his first NFBC Main Event league title, which is crazy when you consider that he has the most coveted title under his belt. This will definitely go down in history as one of the most interesting races in NFBC history.

Ben Tidd finished third to win $30,000, while Scott Jenstad finished fourth to win $25,000 and NFBC Hall of Famer Steve Jupinka finished fifth to win $20,000. We paid the Top 25 overall finishers cash prizes this year. Steven Weimer also finished sixth to win $15,000, giving him two Top 6 finishes as he was one of only four owners this year to win multiple Main Event league titles. The others with two Main Event league titles in 2022 were NFBC Hall of Famer Mark Srebro, Scott Jenstad and Scott Fleming. Awesome job everyone.

Bob's winning total of 6,238.0 points were 88.48 percent of all available points, which ranks as the 11th highest total among our 19 overall champions. That percentage under 90 shows you just how competitive the overall race was this year with 705 teams competing for the title.

Congrats to all 47 of our Main Event league champions this year and to the Top 25 in the overall who cashed. This was a season that was put on hold because of the stupid 99-day lockout, but at the end of the day we had a record Main Event season and we crowned a great champion. Thanks to everyone who didn't give up on baseball during the lockout and who didn't give up on the NFBC. Now the best is yet to come as we have already opened up the draft room for 2023 drafts and next year will be our 20TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON!! Let's get it on.
