Mark Steahly Wins NFBC $50s & FREE 2023 Main Event Entry

Mark Steahly of Powell, Ohio won the NFBC $50s Draft Champions competition as he had the top team among a field that included a record 3,396 teams. Mark entered two NFBC $50 Draft Champions leagues and won both of them for the $400 league prizes. But one of those teams was so good that he finished first in the overall competition, earning a FREE 2023 NFBC Main Event entry.

This will be Mark's first entry into the Main Event as he first joined us in 2020 with one $50 DC, played again in 2021 and then entered two $50 DC leagues and one Rotowire Online Championship league in 2022. After winning two titles and a FREE Main Event entry, I have a feeling the 32-year-old will be playing more often in the NFBC going forward.

Mark won his league title with 112 points (93.33% of available points) and he won the overall title with 31,112.5 points (91.6% of available points).

This was the second year that we included a national contest our of these NFBC $50 private Draft Champions leagues. These are 12-team draft 'n hold leagues with all of the prize money going to the Top 2 teams in each league. But we then put all of the stats from these private leagues into one overall competition and give away three FREE 2023 NFBC entries to the Top 3 teams in the overall competition.

With the added prizes, we finished with a record number of teams in the NFBC $50s. The 3,396 entries during a lockout season was up from the 2,832 teams we had in 2021. And with no labor dispute in the forecast, we believe that 2023 will be even bigger and better.

Mark won the overall title by 847 points over Lucas Conley, who won a Rotowire Online Championship 3-Pack worth $1,000 for his runner-up finish. We also gave a FREE Rotowire Online Championship entry worth $350 to the third place finisher, who was David Pikas. Rounding out the Top 5 were Winston Guest and Ellis Canady.
