NFBC To Host 2023 Las Vegas Live Events At The Mirage

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Nov 17, 2022 3:01 pm

I am excited to announce today that the 20th anniversary of NFBC Live Events in Las Vegas will be held March 23-26 at the Mirage. This will be the first time we have ever hosted live events at the Mirage, but I am excited that we got the Mirage's Grand Ballroom for all four days and we now have enough space to host a record number of live events this March.

As most of you know, the weekend of March 23-26 is going to be a wild weekend in Las Vegas. The city will be the host site for the first time ever of a Sweet Sixteen round of NCAA games that weekend at T Mobile Arena. Because of that, convention space plus hotel space is at a premium at that end of the Strip. Taylor Swift also just recently announced that the second stop on her 2023 tour will be at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday, March 25th, putting hotel rooms even more at a premium on that side of town.

But we will now be away from most of that mayhem thanks to our deal with the Mirage. We not only landed great convention space at the Mirage, but we also secured an affordable room block. These rooms will be available to our NFBC group through February 20th at the following rates:

Thursday, March 23 - $79
Friday, March 24 - $195
Saturday, March 25 - $325
Sunday, March 26 - $95

This does not include tax or the daily resort fee of $39, which is standard for any Las Vegas Strip hotel. Give us another week to get the link to this room block from the Mirage and I will then send it out to everyone and post it on this thread. But I hope that the majority of our participants can stay at the host hotel and make this a memorable gathering together. The Mirage sportsbook is one of the finest in Las Vegas and there are bars and restaurants all around the sportsbook, so bumping into NFBC participants before or after drafts and auctions should be easy. I have a feeling we will have a big number of participants staying at the Mirage that weekend, but I do have a limited amount of rooms each day so secure your rooms soon if you can.

We also have special space for the Friday Night Midnight Madness gathering and we'll release more details about that soon. We are looking at two options and the second one could allow for record attendance at that party/draft. Stay tuned.

I personally flew to Las Vegas last week to meet with sales reps at multiple hotels and to see the available space. I already knew that the Bellagio, Park MGM, Caesars, Planet Hollywood and Vdara were sold out for March 23-26, so our options were limited. But once I met with the Mirage officials and saw the Grand Ballroom, it was a no-brainer to bring our live event there. The affordable room block was the kicker as some places are charging $400-$500+ a night for all four nights. I really think being down the Strip a little from the live basketball tournament and the Taylor Swift concert will be ideal that weekend and will serve our customers well.

The Grand Ballroom will also allow us to have four live events at a time on Thursday, Friday and Sunday in private rooms, while opening up all of the rooms plus another bigger ballroom on Saturday to allow up to 8 Main Event league drafts at once. We also have a stage for our Stage of Champions presentation and Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The plan is to honor one more new Hall of Fame member this year and to bring up all of our past Hall of Famers and national champions on Saturday morning before the Main Event. It should be a blast and we'd love to get 8 Main Event leagues drafting at once in one huge ballroom once again.

Anyway, plan accordingly and if you want to extend your stay anywhere from three to five days before or after our room block the Mirage will honor our room rates of $79 per weekday. Come early or stay late and it will still be affordable. Oh, and there is some interest in a Monday morning NFBC $1500 Auction Championship league and maybe a live Monday night Main Event League if anyone is interested, so let me know. We'll find more space if demand is there for more live events in Las Vegas.

This is going to be our 20th straight year of NFBC live events in Las Vegas. We hosted at the Rio in 2004 and 2005, then moved to the Stardust for three years before landing at the Flamingo in 2009. We've been mostly at the Bellagio since 2010, with a stop at Park MGM in 2019. Now let's add the Mirage for our 20th anniversary season, which I believe will be our biggest and best yet. Thanks for your patience everyone and good luck in 2023.

I'll see many of you in Las Vegas!!! AT THE MIRAGE!!! Can't wait.

Awesome! Great score Greg!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Okay, hold off getting your Las Vegas rooms just yet. The URL for our room block isn't done yet and because of the long holiday weekend it will likely be available next week. I just talked to my sales rep and she apologized for the delay, but will get this to us next week.

The feedback on the Mirage as been positive and now that Taylor Swift has booked a Friday night concert at Allegiant Stadium to go with the Saturday night concert, rooms are going to be very tough to find. I hope we get most people to stay at the Mirage with our room block because it could be one of the best bargains in town that weekend.

Again, give me until early next week for that room block code and then you can start booking rooms. Thanks.
