Vegas Contract League - SOLD OUT

Post by KJ Duke » Tue Dec 27, 2022 8:48 pm

Introducing a new league concept which combines a few ideas from other leagues I've created. It's similar to the NFFC Gridiron league which I've run with Greg for 10 years, modified to work for baseball. Expect this to be a fun annual event with the prior season's owners having first chance to keep their spot in the league the following year. There will be only one league.

Overview
• 15-team league with NO FAAB
• 5x5 roto scoring
• 40 round draft
• 10-player roster expansion draft (reverse order of standings) during the All-Star Break

NFBC Prize Pool
• $1000 NFBC entry fee
• Top 3 pays $7000 / $3500 / $1500

Private Prize Pool
The private pool entry fee has 3 components:
1) $500 per team entry fee
2) Cash bidding for draft slots in Round One
• Slots will be auctioned off in order from #1, with a player selected after each winning bid.
3) The Top 100 players drafted based on ADP will incur a cash cost equal to $10 per $1 million of that player's MLB salary for the year (for example, the draft cost of a $15 million salary is $150)

• The Top 100 players and their salaries will be locked-in and provided prior to the draft. There is no extra cost to draft any player not on the list.
• Private pool fees are due in Vegas via cash or check (no paypal/venmo) at the end of the draft.
• 100% of the private pool will be paid out equally to 25 weekly high scorers and will exclude opening weekend games and All-Star week games.
Weekly winners will be based on each team's weekly-only roto rank with 100% of the private pool paid out equally to the 25 weekly high scorers. The two partial weeks - opening weekend games and All-Star week games, and potentially any extra playoff games - will not count toward the weekly payouts. Any ties will be split.

Based on the preliminary Top 100 players, if all were drafted, this would add $924 per team on average to the private pool. The twenty-five weekly payouts would be over $850 each plus a pro rata of slot bidding.

Great job everyone and we'll find a good room to host this. I'm still not sure if we'll be able to stay in the convention center until the early hours of the morning or if we'll need a special suite for this, but we'll figure it out.

I mentioned this to KJ last night and I'm throwing it out there late for everyone to consider. We can do it Saturday night, but Saturday is our busiest day with the Main Event at 11 am and then a bunch of great events including the Platinum League at 4 pm. If we wait until all of the auctions are done we won't get started until likely 10 pm PT.

One other option if everyone is going to be in Las Vegas at that time is Thursday night after the Main Event and Auction Championship League. We have the 4 pm Mains and the Auction Championship league and then nothing after that. It might be a great annual kickoff event to do this on Thursday Night.

Again, I'm late with this suggestion, but consider it. We'll find space either night, but just a thought to consider.

Thanks all and I look forward to making this unique contest an annual event in Las Vegas, just like the NFFC Kickoff Gridiron Leagues.

+1. I like the Thursday after the Main Event time myself.

I'll do Thursday night, but will probably have to bow out from the Main prior due to scheduling conflicts.

Okay, Thursday it is then. Awesome job everyone and this could be a great new Kickoff Event each year. Let's see what I can do for a room.

It's possible that I may be able to get a suite for that night. I'm not sure yet, but let me try this week. I'm on it.

And Darik will create the contest link and get this new league set up in the next week. He will email everyone the signup link once that's done. Thanks all and I can't wait to see everyone in Las Vegas at the Mirage!!! Should be a blast.

Waiting on 3 more players that signed up to register for the league. If you haven't yet, right click on the link in the first post of this thread.

As of now, based on the Top 100 players at current salaries all getting drafted, the minimum weekly payout would be $856.
This excludes slot bidding which should push the number towards $1k per week.
