Welcome To NFBC Las Vegas For Our 20th Anniversary

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Mar 21, 2023 3:03 pm

This weekend marks the 20th straight year that the NFBC has held live events in Las Vegas. We started at the Rio in 2004 and 2005, left for the Stardust for a few years and then the Flamingo before landing at the Bellagio in 2010.

We've been mostly at the Bellagio since then, although we did go to Park MGM a couple of times. This year we host our 20th anniversary season at the Mirage and I couldn't be happier.

First of all, welcome to everyone traveling to Las Vegas this week!! Safe travels and I look forward to seeing everyone. All of our live events will be in the Mirage Convention Center in the Grand Ballroom, so plan accordingly.

To get to the Grand Ballroom from the front entrance, just follow the signs that point you to the Mirage Theatre/Convention Center. You will enter the casino, go past the Elevators and past a bunch of shops before seeing the Convention Center. Take a right after the Coffee Shop and the Grand Ballroom is all the way at the end of that first hall. It is straight down that hallway and you'll see a sign for Grand Ballroom A, B, C, D, E. Plan on a 7-8 minute walk from the hotel entrance.

We are in Grand Ballrooms C, D, E on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. We have all of A, B, C and D on Saturday for the 11 am Main Event and E again for the 4 pm events. It's going to be a blast.

We also have the debut NFBC Contract League up in a suite on the 30th floor on Thursday night. We can get into that room at 7 pm and the draft starts at 8 pm. I'll tell everyone how to get up there through the Guest Elevators when I learn more from management. But we only have that room until midnight at the latest because another group is coming in there, so let's get things started early if possible.

Monday's 10 am Auction Championship league is also up there and I'll make sure everyone has access to the 30th floor that day.

On Friday night, the MTM party is in a restaurant called Portofino. There are no signs that point out the Portofino as it's now held for just exclusive events, but here's the directions: From the front entrance, walk into the casino and veer right when you see the Otoro restaurant. Walk past that and past the Stack restaurant and the Portofino is the next entrance past Stack. It's a fantastic setup with a bar area at the front and then a walkout area into a foyer where 50+ people can sit comfortably and talk with tables all around. We'll hold the Midnight Madness draft in that foyer area.

I have to say, in 20 years of hosting NFBC live events in Las Vegas, I'm more pleased about the Mirage setup than anywhere else. We have close to 150 people staying at the hotel this weekend, so you'll be able to bump into and talk with an NFBC player just about anywhere you go inside the casino or convention area. The Mirage sportsbook is among the best in the city and there is a bar right there to sit and talk with others. And our Convention Center space is perfect, with the Grand Ballroom on Saturday morning with 8 leagues drafting at once a sight to behold. It's the perfect space for what we need all five days.

And they are really happy to have us here as well. Everyone has been so nice and they want us back again next year. We'll see how this plays out, but right now I'm loving the Mirage for 2023 and maybe even beyond.

Okay, safe travels everyone and bring warm clothes. It is NOT warm here today and it's not going to be warm the rest of the weekend. But our draft rooms will be on fire and hopefully you're the one creating the heat!! Safe travels and we'll see you soon.
