Even though these guys are old and injury prone does anyone out there have a better bench this in the main? granted they are all hurt but generally speaking... 1 Schilling 2 Carpenter 3 Randy Johnson 4 Shawn Hill 5 Juan Rivera 6 Bob Howry 7 Jacoby Ellsbury....that has to be in top 25 benches

How much does "Best Bench" 1st place pay? I couldn't find it anywhere on the NFBC homepage -- must have missed that one.

What happens if your OF and 1B are expected to miss a week or two ? Howry(to lose job to either marmol or dempster real soon) s.hill (who KNOWS when he's back OR if he'll be effective again this year) are cuts. You need a trade/inj of Crisp for ellsbury to have worth. Even then it's a bit too soon to expect great things from him. Rivera will be back but is he ready to give you 6gm a week #'s right off the bat? Unit's back issue will NOT go away, he just has to come to grips on whether he can pitch through that pain. Not a good scenario for him. Carp and Schill could give you 2 good months. But it's not a given due to their injuries.
star studded yes but by the time they round into form it may be too late to help.

One could argue that this may be one of the bottom 25 benches. No immediate help for injuries, Howry is the only bad matchup reserve pitcher available. If it were mine, at a minimum, Hill and Rivera would be free agents next week.

yeah if 2 of the 4 starters work out thats fine by me....the others are longshots...and marmol has not proven he can hold that job and who knows if dempster stays healthy...and ellsbury will be up at the deadline...sox will make moves to get this kid on the roster....he is faster than everyone in baseball with the exception of 4 or 5 guys...

I stopped looking for the "Best Bench" Prize money so here goes:
You need 10 starts per week and 2 closers to compete. You can only average 8.3 with 2 closers with that bench. Hence, you will drop in W's and K's. Even if the some members of that M*A*S*H unit get healthy, they are prone to extra days off between starts and having a turn skipped with a "minor" ailment-- which means you don't get to replace him with a healthy starter.
You didn't mention what stiffs you have in your starting pitching staff and whether you have a MR pitcher(death to w's and k's).
Good luck and remember M*A*S*H reruns are on everyday in case these guys go back on the DL

Awesome bench! Can we get an autographed Dr. Lewis Yocum ball for this man?

Just curious as to where your team ranks in the main with those who aren't on the bench?

I mean he's healthy and he has the closing gig. I picked up Boof off free agency last week. Should I have gone after Shawn Hill? Let me know your secrets. Was your cheat sheet at the draft the injury report?
YOUR GUYS ARE ON THE DL!! THEY CAN'T HELP YOU ON THE DL. You can show your roster to your buddies and tell that that this was your team in 2003 and they might be impressed. I'm not!
PS What is your team name? I remember you posted your roster earlier in the year and it gave me a good laugh back then. I'd love to see all your great in-season acquisitions. Better luck in your 8 team yahoo league

sranaghan - u have a nice little team there. The race is on between those guys coming OFF the DL vs your current roster staying healthy.

sranaghan--with all disrespect--you can't compete with a bench of DL'd players.
I waived M Tejada and E Santana last week because we have 12 weeks left and someone else will help more than these 2. I would also have waived R Johnson if my bid for 1 of 4 other pitchers were succesful--Johnson will pitch very little the rest of this year and will be VERY ineffective.
My team is Main Event Insulators #54 overall and first(just barely) in LV 6 ( though I can easily finish 8th in LV 6).
Good luck and I hope I'm in your league next year.

I'd love to see all your great in-season acquisitions. Better luck in your 8 team yahoo league - Red Sox Nation
Lets look at Red Sox Nations pickups..these are all of them for the year...hahahah...
Bonser
Greinke
Spezio
Tavarez
Westbrook
Montero
Christian Guzman
Alfonseca
Angel Guzman
Scott Baker
Brandon McCarthy
Jeremy Accardo
Jake Westbrook
Jason Frasor
Mark Hendrickson
So lets see out of all those players you got Jeremy Accardo...every other one is almost useless as Myers will be back very soon...now lets see the 8 team yahoo league guys "in season acquistions:
1 Jack Cust
2 Dustin Pedroia
3 Shawn Hill
4 Carlos Pena
5 Manny Corpas
6 Bobby Howry
7 Sean Marshall
Isnt even a contest...now shut your mouth and go back to posting that rank team name of yours....dont think Theo would be proud of ummmm Red Sox Nation picking up those disasters...beat it ya troll....

oh yeah we bid on closers but didnt bid 315 for them...and we have 2 of the more solid closers in the nl..not 2 of the more shakier closers, valverde and wickman....one is a headcase and the other one will be hurt...so you better hope your lone "acquisition" keeps that up......

Did you forget my lincecum pickup too? If you're going to blast me state some facts. I think Lincecum and Accardo would qualify as good pickups. I had Christian Guzman too? HAHA Again state some facts.
Re: Team Name You don't like RSN? I wasn't as creative as you with the Andrew Matsuzka! That is original.
You have a top 25 bench. I salute you!
