Marlins-Mets Suspended Game Is Officially Final

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Oct 04, 2023 10:29 am

Everyone, just a heads up that this morning Major League Baseball FINALLY made a decision on last Thursday's Marlins-Mets suspended game.

As you know, the Marlins scored two runs in the top of the 9th inning to go ahead 2-1 and the game was then suspended because of rain. Since the Marlins won the final Wild Card spot on Saturday, there was no need to finish that game and MLB decided that it would not be made up on Monday. But for three days they have not made a decision on how the Thursday game would be scored.

Well, that ended this morning. They decided to give the Mets the 1-0 win because they were ahead after 8 full innings. All of the Marlins' stats from the 9th inning will now be removed.

From SportRadar, these are the scoring changes that will be updated throughout all of our NFBC games. We will then re-run standings and you'll see new standings. We will re-run standings again overnight for any last minute Elias scoring changes and then NFBC standings and stats will be final on Thursday morning.

Prizes will be put on Player Accounts on Thursday and any scoring changes after that (there shouldn't be any) are moot. At some point, Elias has to have official stats and we have to pay our winners. We will do that on Thursday now that the suspended game has been decided.

Here are the stat changes from SportRadar:

MLB has officially updated the results for the suspended game from September 28th that was scheduled to resume on October 2nd. All 9th inning events have been scratched with the game being official after 8 innings with the New York Mets winning 1-0 against the Miami Marlins.

Grant Hartwig is credited with the win
Jesse Luzardo is credited with the loss

Therefore, the following stats have been changed:

Marlins hitting:
Team: removed 2 runs scored
Bryan De La Cruz: removed single and run scored
Garrett Hampson: removed strikeout
Jazz Chisholm Jr.: removed double, RBI, and run scored
Yuli Gurriel: removed single and RBI; removed appearance
Xavier Edwards: removed flyout
Jon Berti: removed single

Mets pitching:
Team: removed 2 earned runs
Grant Hartwig: removed 2 batters faced, 5 pitches, 1 hit, 1 earned run, and 1 strikeout
Anthony Kay: removed 3 batters faced, 13 pitches, 2 hits, 1 earned run, 1 flyout, and 1 wild pitch; removed appearance
Reed Garrett: removed 1 batter faced, 4 pitches, and 1 hit; removed appearance

Okay, standings for all NFBC leagues have just been re-run. All standings and stats now reflect the changes to Thursday's suspended game. Again, we will re-run standings overnight and what you see tomorrow morning should be final. Prizes will be awarded shortly after that.

Thanks all and good luck.
