Scott Fleming Wins 2023 New York Ultimate & $40,000

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Oct 05, 2023 10:02 am

Scott Fleming did it again!!!

Fleming, of Wayne, New Jersey, has now won his third straight NFBC New York MTM Ultimate League title and the $40,000 league prize as he is the first three-peat champion of this league. The only other person who has registered a three-peat in an NFBC high-stakes private league is Shawn Johnson, who won the NFBC Diamond Auction League four straight years (2018-2022). Scott once again led much of the way as he took the lead from Mike Mager in Week 15 and held onto that lead for the last 12 weeks of the season.

Scott finished with 113.5 points to win the $40,000 league prize. Simon Haft had a strong finish to wind up second with 108.5 points, while Jason Duponte finished third with 105.5 points. Simon won $20,000 for his runner-up finish, while Jason won $7,500.

Cost of entry for the NFBC New York MTM Invitational Ultimate League was $10,000.

This event was held at Dave & Busters in New York City this year with Scott wearing a crown as a two-time defending champion and taking home a monstrous trophy. While we won't be returning to New York City officially in 2024, we sure would like to keep the MTM Invitational Ultimate League going next year. We have some ideas and we'll work with Mike Massotto to keep this great league alive one way or another. There are options, so plan on this one returning in 2024 because I'm confident we'll make it even more high profile this March.

This league was broadcast live on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio and we hope to have that happen again in 2024.

Kudos to all of the winners of this unique and fun league. Here's the final standings:

NFBC New York MTM Ultimate League Invitational Standings:
1 Scott Fleming 376 grams 113.5
2 Simon Hanft Hanft 108.5
3 Jason Duponte Cue the Duckboats MTM 105.5
4 Steven Weimer Striding Snake 98.5
5 Eric Albright EA Sports MTM 95
6 Michael Mager Bronx Yankees ULT 90.5
7 Daniel Semsel Dan Vogelbach's Diet Plan 80.5

NFBC New York MTM Invitational Ultimate League Prizes:
1 - $40,000
2 - $20,000
3 - $7,500

Scott Fleming becomes our first three-time winner of the New York Ultimate League. Joe Thelen and Mike Massotto won two titles each when it was the New York Super, but Scott has dominated this league each of the last three years. This is also his fourth Ultimate League title, having won his first one in 2007. He now has the most NFBC Ultimate Draft League titles as he was previously tied with John Lemke, who won three Ultimate League titles from 2013-15. Jon Stadtmueller has also won four NFBC Ultimate Auction league titles, same as Scott in the draft format. Here's the complete list of NFBC Ultimate League winners:

2005 - David DiDonato
2006 - Eddie Gillis
2006 - David Deterra (League 2)
