Alan Holmes & Brad Miller Win 2023 AL & NL Auction Titles

The NFBC AL-Only and NL-Only Auction leagues have been a big part of the NFBC since we started the live events back in 2004. During our inaugural year, we only had the Main Event and $1250 AL-Only and $1250 NL-Only Auction leagues. Heck, Rotisserie Baseball started as an NL-only league with the Founding Fathers back in 1980.

So I was glad that we could keep these leagues together in 2023, even though they were held Online for the second straight year. This is likely going to be the location for these auction leagues going forward, but as long as we can keep them alive I'm happy with that. And I think our participants are happy with that option, too, since the leagues ran smoothly once again this year.

We crowned two great champions this year as Alan Holmes of Ottawa, Ontario won the 2023 NL-Only Auction League and that $9,000 league prize, while Brad Miller of Mission Viejo, California won the 2023 AL-Only Auction League and that $9,000 league prize. They join a star-studded list of past owners who also won these prestigious league titles.

Alan won the NL league title with 93.5 points, edging Seth Poppel by a mere 1.5 points, while Shawn Childs finished third. Seth earned $3,500 for his runner-up finish, while Shawn earned $2,000.

Brad won the AL league title with 97.5 points with Paul England finishing second with 82.5 points and Jason Gill finishing third with 80 points. Paul earned $3,500 for his runner-up finish, while Jason earned $2,000. Cost of entry for each team in the NL-only and AL-only leagues was $1,500.

We have never compiled a full list of our past NFBC AL-Only and NL-Only league champions before, but after some research we finally have the complete list. Congrats to all of our current and past champions of this great format.

We started this contest at a $1,250 price point and then even added some $650 live auction leagues from 2005-09. We soon found out that wasn't cost effective at Las Vegas hotels and offered just $1,250 auction leagues after that. We've since increased the entry fee to $1,300 then $1,400 and now the $1,500 price point. Here's the complete list of past league winners:
