NFBC 1-Hour Draft Champions Leagues Are Now DONE

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Mar 01, 2024 8:26 am

For the record, the NFBC Draft Champions National Championship is on a record pace and we wouldn't be surprised if we top 5,000 teams this year for the first time. It's been fantastic to watch this contest grow through the years and the faster draft times and improved software are allowing people to enjoy these DCs more and more, while even competing in more DCs.

We also are filling more Draft Champions Express leagues earlier this year and we expect to have a busy month of March for those nightly drafts. Look for nightly drafts each day through March as we get ready for Opening Day on Thursday, March 28th.

Most of our DC leagues are cruising along pretty well and most leagues are getting done in 21 days or less. Reducing the clock in half for the 4-Hour and 2-Hour leagues starting in Round 31 also helps move things along.

So with that in mind, we will keep Registration open for the NFBC $150, $400 and $1,000 Draft Champions leagues through Thursday, March 7th. That will give everyone 21 days to complete their drafts and we shouldn't have any problems during those final days before Opening Day. If we have any slow moving leagues, Tom or Geoff will aggressively move the clock forward until everyone is done before the first pitch on Thursday, March 28th. Plan accordingly and if you're in a slow league you could get put down to 1 minute per pick on the last day.

We also will set deadlines for the other formats for this contest. Here's the new schedule for each format, so plan accordingly:

NFBC $150, $400 and $1,000 4-Hour Draft Champions: We will take signups through Thursday, March 7th and try to start all of these leagues on that day.

NFBC $150 & $400 2-Hour Draft Champions: We will take signups through Thursday, March 14th and try to start all of these leagues on that day. That would give everyone 13+ days to complete their 50 rounds, which is more than enough time since we lower the clock to 1 hour starting in Round 31. Plan accordingly.

NFBC $150 & $400 1-Hour and 30-Minute Draft Champions: We will take signups through Tuesday, March 19th and try to start all of these leagues on that day. That would give everyone 8+ days to complete their 50 rounds, which seems doable. Plan accordingly.

Draft Champions Express Leagues: These are scheduled more frequently starting this week as we now have them every night of the week. We may not fill every single one, but DC Express leagues will be available every night going forward.

Hope this helps. Plan accordingly and thanks for making this format such a big hit this year with a $40,000 grand prize. The overall prize pool has a good chance to grow this year, so keep the signups coming. Let's grow, grow, grow this great format together.

Re: NFBC 4-Hour Draft Champions Deadline: March 7th

Just a reminder that Thursday is the last day we'll take signups for the NFBC 4-Hour Draft Champions Leagues. We'll close off the final leagues tomorrow and then offer just 2-Hour, 1-Hour and Express Leagues for this format.

We'll close off the 4-Hour Main Event Qualifier and Satellite Leagues on Monday, March 11th and likely the 4-Hour Cutline leagues on Tuesday, March 12th. We need to start closing off the slow drafts as we get closer to MLB Opening Day, so plan accordingly.

Thanks all and enjoy as we are having a record season for the Draft Champions format. Good luck in all your leagues this year.

Re: NFBC 2-Hour Draft Champions Deadline: March 14th

Just a reminder everyone that our NFBC $150 and $400 Draft Champions leagues will remain open through Thursday, March 14th and we won't start any leagues later than Friday, March 15th. This is the last week to get into those 15-Team, 50-Round drafts.

We will keep open the 1-Hour and Express leagues for the $150 and $400 Draft Champions leagues, so you will still have those options available. The 1-Hour DCs will close on Wednesday, March 20th. Plan accordingly.

We will shut down the 4-Hour Satellite Leagues and Qualifier leagues tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12th. We will also shut down the 4-Hour Cutline Championship leagues on Tuesday, March 12th. Plan accordingly.

Remember that for any of these slow draft leagues that appear to be lagging along, we will lower the pick clocks starting on Monday, March 25th. If we have to reduce picks to 30 minutes or less, we will. Please be mindful that all of these drafts must be done before First Pitch on Thursday, March 28th and we promise they will be done even if we have to lower the clock to 1 minute per pick. Please make your picks in a timely fashion so that all of these drafts finish on time.

Thanks all and good luck.

Just a reminder everyone that we are taking signups for the NFBC $150 and $400 2-Hour Draft Champions leagues through Thursday, March 14th. We will NOT start any 2-Hour leagues any later than Friday if at all possible. We will still offer 1-Hour and Express DC leagues, but the 2-Hour leagues end tomorrow.

We currently have 293 full leagues with a goal of hitting 320 full leagues. This is going to be a record-breaking year for the Draft Champions format and we appreciate all the support from this great community. When you consider that we also had 1,800 NFBC Gladiator teams through November and December, it's amazing how strong this contest has been this year.

Thanks for everything and now let's finish strong. We still have plenty of leagues to fill over these last 15 days and I know we can sell this contest out and then some. Enjoy everyone and good luck.

It's time to put a bow on DC season! Tomorrow is the last day to join a 1-hour draft for ANY format. We may even shut off some 1-hour formats that fill TODAY (such as the $400 DC, 6 spots left). The Draft Champions Express format will remain open with available drafts until the night before Opening Day. Starting first thing Wednesday morning, we'll start adjusting clocks in running 2- and 4-hour drafts as we see fit. Consider this your warning on those ones. Have a queue ready to go as we do not rollback any picks that timeout. Anticipate the clock getting cut in half to start with more time changes coming as we get closer to Opening Day. The only notification you'll receive that this has been done is in the draft chat for each specific league. I can't stress this enough -- BE READY as we will have every running draft done before the first games start on Thursday, March 28.
