What's Left At The Mirage Las Vegas For 2024 Live Events?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:57 am

Our 21st NFBC season of Live Events in Las Vegas is shaping up as one of our biggest and busiest yet. With Las Vegas being the last surviving venue for Live Events, we have extended the time we'll host live events from Wednesday, March 20th to Tuesday, March 26th and we have a lot of full leagues already throughout those seven days.

But we still have a few leagues we are working on. If you still plan on coming to Las Vegas during that time for live events and want some last minute options, we have them waiting for you. And if you're already signed up for live events in Las Vegas but still might be convinced to do one or two more, well, then I'll show you some love!!! Give me a holler and I'll scratch that itch for you and get you in another league!!

Okay, I'll update this thread throughout the next two weeks, so here's what we still have left at the Mirage Las Vegas:

Friday, March 22nd:
MTM Friday Night Party, Capri Lounge, 9 pm PT - 25 Spots Left!!!! $100 to meet up with fellow NFBC players and get to know them

Tuesday, March 26th:
Main Event, 4 pm PT - SOLD OUT

We can obviously mix in some Online drafters to fill in the Main Events in Las Vegas, but ideally we'd love to fill up all of these leagues with live drafters. We will stop at 8 full leagues on Saturday, March 23rd at 11 am PT, so next 7 in will close out that contest on that day. We still have other days in Las Vegas to draft a Main Event team if you miss out on Saturday.

Again, if you've already got a team in Las Vegas and you're thinking of one more team, drop me an email and we'll see if we can make this work. Thanks all and we'll see you in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks.

Okay, we're doing everything we can to pester people into more Live drafts and auctions in Las Vegas, but we still have a ways to go. And for some unknown reason, three people who were signed up for the Saturday 11 am Main Event have moved to Online in the last week. No idea why anyone would do that, but hopefully we can get them back live with us and sell out all 8 leagues.

We're trying, but people keep moving around. Let's see if we can get closer to 120 teams by the weekend for the Saturday Mains.

Anyway, here are multiple Las Vegas Live Events that are close to filling. If you have any interest in any of these final spots, sign up Online or shoot me an email at [email protected]. I'll make it happen and we'll announce draft spots and league formations on time. Thanks all.

Who wants to fill these Las Vegas leagues?

Wednesday, March 20th:
Main Event, 4 pm PT - 2 SPOTS LEFT

Friday, March 22nd:
$1500 Auction Championship, 4 pm PT - 2 Spots Left

Sunday, March 24th:
Main Event, 10 am PT - 1 SPOT LEFT

Monday, March 25th:
Main Event, 4 pm PT - 3 Spots Left

That's a total of 8 spots to fill four Live Events. If you're tempted to close any of these out, let me know. Corona's in Vegas will be on me!!

And if you're from the Midwest and you're like me, then you're looking at the weather forecast in Las Vegas for next week. Last year it was cold the entire week out there, but this year is looking better. Here's the early forecast:

Tuesday, March 19th
Sunny and 76

Wednesday, March 20th
Sunny and 78

Thursday, March 21st
Partly Cloudy and 77

Good start to the week. Fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Okay, we're up to 113 teams in the Las Vegas Saturday Main Event as we try to fill all 8 leagues by Monday so that we can announce leagues and draft spots on time. We can't do any of that until we get to 120 teams. Here's a call out to those three owners who switched from Live to Online this week: COME BACK TO LAS VEGAS!!!!

We're going to get there somehow, but we're getting short on time. Sign up online or give me a shout and we'll secure a spot for you. EIGHT LEAGUES GOING OFF AT ONCE!!! The Stage of Champions with all of our past national champions and NFBC Hall of Famers!!! It doesn't get better than this.

And as I said two years ago, "Never, Ever, Ever, Ever Take This For Granted." The camaraderie and spectacle and fun of that day is unreal and hard to duplicate. We're lucky to have that experience again this year. See you all there and let's CELEBRATE!!! (That's the theme of my speech this year)

Okay, we added another signup to Saturday's Main Event at 11 am PT, so we're at 114 teams once again. SIX SPOTS LEFT in the Las Vegas Main Event on Saturday, March 23rd and then we'll have 8 FULL LEAGUES!!!

Can we fill all 8 leagues by Monday morning and get league assignments and draft spots out on time? Let's see if we can find six more worthy opponents to join this fun day. Here we go.

Oh, and don't forget that we have 1 SPOT LEFT in the Friday 4 pm PT $1500 Auction Championship league. ONE!!!! Who wants to make my day and close that second auction championship league out?? Where' my hero?

I think everyone knows that this is a big jigsaw puzzle that we are trying to fit together, but it's starting to come together in Las Vegas. We still have to make some slight changes and we might need a little Online help to get there, but we're making progress.

Please bare with us as we fit this together and fill these leagues. Thanks.

The Saturday 11 am PT Las Vegas Main Event made a lot of progress now and we have 2 SPOTS LEFT to fill an 8th league. A couple of owners have joined us Online as they couldn't make it to Las Vegas but still wanted to be part of the drafts and we'll accommodate them. But let's get 2 more signups and see if we can call it a day. Sign up online or contact me soon if interested and with any luck we'll have league assignments and draft spots announced by Monday.

The Wednesday and Monday Mains are close to filling as well, but again we may seek some Online help. And Thursday may need a slight adjustment to fill two leagues. Look for an email on that shortly for those who are in that time slot.

And don't forget: WE HAVE 1 SPOT LEFT IN THE FRIDAY 4 PM $1500 AUCTION CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE!!! Who's going to fill that second full league and win the $30,000 grand prize?? I know you're out there.

Thanks all and we're almost there. Almost.

I also have to post this now because I found out about this last night: Brady Tinker will NOT be in Las Vegas next weekend.

It's the first NFBC Live Events he hasn't been able to make in 21 years, but he's a big shot realtor now in Dallas and he has a couple of big homes that he has to show next weekend. He had his flight booked and was all set to come to Las Vegas, but he can't change the show dates and has to be in Dallas. He's bummed and he sends his love to everyone he will miss this year.

I will be the auctioneer for the leagues he was going to do and Kim will be a full-time auctioneer that weekend as well. On Friday when we have three auction leagues at once, Tom will be the third auctioneer.

We're not as good as Brady, but it's been that kind of year with surprises. We'll get through it and maybe we'll call him during one of the auctions just to rub it in. I know he's going to miss this weekend -- especially with it being March Madness Opening Weekend -- but his main job comes first. Sorry.

NOW ONLY 1 SPOT LEFT in the Las Vegas Main Event leagues on Thursday, March 21st at 5 pm ET. We will have two hybrid leagues going at once at the Mirage in Grand Ballrooms C and D!!! Let's finalize these leagues and get draft spots announced tomorrow night.

Everyone has agreed to a new plan of attack with this league. We will have drinks ready at 4:15 pm PT in both rooms and dinner will be served for the drafters at 4:30. That will give everyone a little time for camaraderie and food before starting at 5:00. We will have 23 or 24 Live drafters and 6-7 Online drafting as well. All have agreed to the setup and we'll announce leagues as soon as we close out this last spot.

GREAT JOB EVERYONE and away we go.

Oh, and we still have ONLY 1 SPOT LEFT for Saturday's 8th and final Main Event league. That will be a fantastic setup on Saturday at 11 am PT and come early because I'm writing my speech now!!! It's going to be a CELEBRATION speech, so be there and be ready. We'll also bring up our former national champions and Hall of Famers onto the Stage of Champions, so I can't wait to celebrate our 20+ years of history. See you there and now let's get one more signup in for Saturday Las Vegas Main Event!!!

Re: What's Left At The Mirage Las Vegas For 2024 Live Events?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Mar 19, 2024 4:57 pm

It has been an incredible experience to watch the Las Vegas live events fill up so perfectly. We were able to get draft spots and league designations for almost every Las Vegas league 5 days in advance, which is tough to do when you have seven days of live events and so many 15-team leagues. I'm proud and excited for what we have set up for the next 7 days.

We'll kick off the live events on Wednesday at 4 pm PT with the Main Event League. Should be a blast. The first auction is Thursday at 10 am and then everything kicks into high gear after that. All we have left for live events is the Tuesday, 4 pm PT Las Vegas Main Event league. We knew this one was going to be tough to fill with all live drafters, but we have 7 now and by Thursday we'll fill in with other Online drafters. If you want one more live event, stay with us on Tuesday and we'll wine and dine you with a great group of competitors.

We also now have 60+ people signed up for the Friday Night Party in the Capri Lounge. I'd like to limit it to 90 guests, so the next 28 or so will get in and then we'll shut it off. Sorry, but the space would be too packed with more than that, plus we need to leave room for the Midnight Madness draft.

Oh, and we have a nice surprise at the draft/auction tables thanks to our Audio/Visual partners at the Mirage. They felt so bad for charging me so much for the screens and power that they threw in something nice for all of you. I think you'll notice it right away. I sure did and asked how much that cost me!!! She said it was on us. Great.

Okay, safe travels everyone and we'll see you this weekend. Here's all we have left out here:

Friday, March 22nd:
MTM Friday Night Party, Capri Lounge, 9 pm PT - 27 Spots Left!!!! $100 to meet up with fellow NFBC players and get to know them

Tuesday, March 26th:
Main Event, 4 pm PT - 8 Spots Left will hook up with Online

Oh, and we have a nice surprise at the draft/auction tables thanks to our Audio/Visual partners at the Mirage. They felt so bad for charging me so much for the screens and power that they threw in something nice for all of you. I think you'll notice it right away. I sure did and asked how much that cost me!!! She said it was on us. Great.
Kudos to the Mirage for putting 9 power strips at each draft U this entire week!!! THAT WAS THE SURPRISE!!! It was fantastic and it's something the Mirage and their Audio/Visual contractor (Encore) did for us free of charge.

It was HUGE during the NFBC auction leagues and the Main Event drafts. Platinum drafters loved them as well.

I can't promise we'll have this setup every year going forward, but now that Encore has done this once (and they run the Audio/Visual for EVERY hotel on the Strip), I'll push for this every year that we do it in Las Vegas. I know how helpful they were and we'll try for them again in 2025.

Some people thought the surprise were bobbleheads for everyone!!! Sorry, you can't plug your laptop into a bobblehead!!! Thanks everyone.
