It's not easy, but the goal is to have your team of players stay healthy enough to keep fighting the lions and other animals and still walk out of the colosseum intact. If you can do that, you'll possibly turn $50 into a $10,000 grand prize.
The NFBC Gladiator Leagues are a survivor contest where all 23 of your roster spots are filled on Draft Day and no reserves are drafted. There's also no moves during the season, so your job is done after Draft Day. We debuted this contest in 2023 and quickly sold out with 1,500 teams before selling out all 1,800 teams last year. This year we are shooting for 1,950 teams and 130 leagues.
One change that we are making this year is consolidating all nightly drafts to November, December and mid-January. We will be offering more nightly drafts in November and December and hopefully selling out this contest by mid-January. Extended drafts will start next Tuesday when we launch the new 2025 draft room. We did not want to start Gladiator drafts until all position eligibility was updated on the site since every team must leave the draft with a legal lineup for all 23 positions. The correct 2025 position eligibility for all MLB players will be done by Tuesday and then we'll open the draft room and start the Gladiator Championship season.
The 3rd annual NFBC Gladiator Championship again has a $10,000 grand prize. The $50 price point remains intact and so does the very, very unique format. This is going to be a HUGE hit once again this year.
Here's the concept to the NFBC Gladiator Championship:
* Cost of Entry: $50
* 15-Team Leagues
* 5 x 5 Roto Standings
* Pay Top 3 in each League, including $250 to 1st Place
* Pay Top 26 overall, including $10,000 to the overall champion
* 23 Man Rosters; everyone drafts a legal lineup
* No FAAB, No Set Lineup
* Limited to 1,950 teams (130 leagues). We will NOT go beyond that total.
That's it. Basically you are drafting your 23 starters and letting the season play out. You have no replacements and no work to do after Draft Day. It's a Gladiator league where the healthy survive. You could actually lose half your lineup or more during the season and still be in contention for league prizes because other teams will also have issues.
The cost is low, the drafting is fun and the maintenance is nothing. Just draft and be done, while trying to turn $50 into the $250 league prize and the $10,000 grand prize.
We'll have slow drafts and nightly drafts starting on Tuesday, November 5th and they get done quickly. Look for a heavy lineup of nightly drafts right off the bat and through mid-January. Once we get to 130 full leagues and 1,950 teams this contest will be SOLD OUT. There's no chance we go beyond that. 1,950 teams, 15-team leagues, 23 rounds with the top Gladiator winning!!
