That's right, we are now 100 days until the official start of the 2025 MLB season, so a countdown must begin. This countdown is toward the Thursday, March 27th MLB openers that include all 30 MLB teams. All 30 MLB teams will be in action that day for what should be a glorious start to the 2024 season.
Now, there is a two-game series in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday-Thursday, March 18-19 between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers. This one does count in the MLB regular season standings, but in the NFBC this will be a "free look" series for all NFBC players. What that means is that no matter when you draft, you will get a "free look" at these results and can decide to start or bench any of these players before the start of the Thursday, March 27th games. If you start any of those players on Thursday, March 27th, they will get their results for that day/weekend AND for the March 18th and 19th games. It's as simple as that.
So this countdown is toward the March 27th Opening Day for all 30 MLB teams. And I'll sprinkle in a mix of new MLB player photos with vintage player photos. Some numbers are just synonymous with past players (think Jackie Robinson and No. 42 or Hank Aaron and No. 44), so we HAVE to include former players. We'll start this day of December 17th with Andres Gimenez, who doesn't wear number 100, but the 0 is a good start. There aren't any major leaguers who are allowed to wear number 100, but I wanted to start the countdown with this one and envision a day when there are no days left until the start of the Major League Baseball season!!!
