Regular Season Extends Through Monday

Just so everyone knows, today's wild card tie-breaker game between San Diego and Colorado WILL count towards the MLB regular-season statistics and thus will be calculated in the NFBC standings as well. You can now go into your team page and change your starting lineup to make changes for today's game. If you want to insert Colorado or San Diego players into your starting lineup -- or even take them out of your starting lineup if it helps your team -- you can do that before the start of this 7:30 EST game.

We will announce all of the league winners and money finishers tomorrow after the NFBC season is FINAL. We'll also send out checks to folks who have sent in their W-9s within the next two weeks. If you haven't received a W-9 yet, please contact us at [email protected] and we'll mail or fax a form to you. If you've already sent your W-9 in to us or had one on file from season's past, look for your check shortly.

How important is today's extra regular season game? Pretty important if you look at the standings of several leagues. Two $100 winner-take-all leagues -- March 8th and March 27th -- have ties for the free NFBC entry in 2008. In the Las Vegas $650 NL Auction League, the Las Vegas $650 Mixed Auction League and the Las Vegas $1250 Mixed Auction League, second place is one-half point behind first place, while in the $1250 NL Auction League the second place team is one point behind the league leader. So a lot is on the line for today.

Good luck everyone. One more day to the season before we announce our 2007 champions!!!

Greg,

What is the basis of this decision? Seems a bit unfair.

And we have this right in our rules, in preparation for a season-ending tie-breaker. It's right there in the first paragraph:

1. Overview: The National Fantasy Baseball Championship (NFBC) will consist of 24 leagues (with the right to expand to a maximum of 30 leagues), each comprised of 15 teams/managers. The NFBC regular season will extend from Opening Day of the MLB regular season through the final game of the regular season (including a season-ending tie-breaker if needed).

Make sense now??

But it will be interesting to see how this goes over with others. How it goes over with others? The man has had the rule in place in writing for 4 years now, it coincides with MLB rules and he has reminded people about it for the past week.

If "others" have an issue with it they do not have much to stand on. Now go back to analyzing league strength and averaging some projected magazine stats..........
I just said I respect where this decision comes from and I also agree that no one has a leg to stand on. But it doesn't mean that everyone A) knows the rules by heart, and B) have paid attention to every post or email. So my post is simply that this will/may upset some people...and the only consequence is whether they want to return next year. THAT'S IT! LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT ME TO BE ANY CLEARER!!!!!

I missed the explanation in the rules yesterday but I was called out on my oversight and I have no problem with the stats counting. It's hard to argue that the rule is unfair when the stats count as regular season numbers. Just my two cents.

[/QB]
Well, I'm not sure why people would leave the NFBC over the fact that there's a one-game regular season tie-breaker game, but I suppose anything is possible. Again, it's in the first paragraph of the rules and has been since the NFBC has started. We're still in the regular season folks, so the stats still count.

I blame Bud Selig!!! The wild card was his idea!!!

Honestly, isn't the wild card a wonderful thing in baseball? Seriously, baseball should have used the wild card many years before they adopted it. Only MLB could watch the NFL grow and grow before finally implementing the wild card decades after the NFL had generated billions of dollars in additional playoff revenue. Unreal.

Didn't like a lot of Bud Selig ideas, but the wildcard and intraleague play were great additions for MLB.
