i never realized how much luck is involved in fantasy football until i really invested time in fantasy baseball.

I hear you, GG. I'm thinking about retiring from the main event due to it.



Sure, some people are "consistently lucky" but it's very frustrating having one dominate player lead lesser owners to championships. 3RR, KDS, whatever, it's not going to change the outcomes when it comes to FF. I embrace these changes and think they make the NFFC the best, but it still boils down to teams winning with one or two dominate players.



Some of the least-knowledgeable FF players are going to win titles/dinero this season due to Tom Brady and Tom Brady alone. Previous seasons by Faulk, LT, Priest, Manning/Culpepper, Rice, Moss, etc.......led to the same thing, fantasy titles driving by their dominate season.



I know well rounded teams win as well, but I've never seen one player carry a fantasy baseball team and pray I never do. Heck, I saw a lot of AROD owners finish in the bottom half of their leagues last season. If the equivalent happened in football, the majority of the time AROD would be leading teams to championships.



I don't believe in "luck" per se, but after browsing the fantasy sports landscape the past few seasons, I definetley agree with GG....THANK YOU FOR BASEBALL!!



BTW, can we draft tomorrow?

i had read a stat that 67% of the owners that had LT on their roster last year, won their leagues.

I don't think Brady owners are lucky to win. It shouldn't be a surprise that he has done so well. I think every year Brady has had his support from fantasy football owners. When he was drafted later, he was consider a solid QB because he could be counted on for 2 Td's a game most weeks. I beleive Brady has more than one high stakes title. You could call the Moss factor in the equation luck because he diidn't play in the preseason. But if Moss regained his form with the addition of Welker, there was a chance Brady was going to be special this year.



Fantasy football does have its ups and downs, but you never know which year you will be in the right spot to take advantage of the drafting opportunity in front of you. I beleive you can win by getting 8 draft picks right as long as you have a serviceable kicker and defense. A good player should get a chance to win once every three years. If he does better than that, he would be considered a great player.



In my mind baseball is a lot more work. If you put your time in, you have a better chance to win. You can't half a$$ baseball. In football it is more wide open, but a good player will get his chance to make a run at the overall title. The chances at a bad year are higher, but your chances of getting eight draft pick right are a lot higher year in and year out.



I know you put your time in Patrick, so you will get your chance. You just never know when you are passing on a great opportunity. I think I read somewhere that you were going to win some money in baseball in 2008. If that is true, you are going to need a few tax deductions.

and then some people(shawn childs) are awesome at both sports!!!!

The beauty of these two sports is that they make the next off-season bearable because another $100,000 check is right around the corner. It was 9 degrees below zero when I woke up this morning here in God's Country (God must be mad at us ) and today is only bearable for me because I'm working on baseball rankings and ratings. The next season, the next spring training, the next event is within shouting distance and it's a great feeling.



Baseball is a marathon and I have to admit that doing football mock drafts in June and July breaks up the monotony of baseball. Plus, it's another season, another summer of training camps, and the next event is within shouting distance, which is a great feeling. I love 'em both.



Now, if we could only get that National Fantasy Basketball Championship live draft going at Madison Square Garden. That would be the next ticket!!

well stated!!! now lets get nfhoops championship rolling along with a golf league(throw out tiger of course) and spark up a hockey league along with a playoff football and playoff baseball leagues, now that would be heaven, 2nd to hitting a superfecta of course!!! under 100 days left even earlier for some of us who like to arrive early and bask by the flamingo pool!! i agree with what you say here. even though i am leading a $250 DC league and am in the playoffs in another satellite league, i can't wait for the season to be over. too many injuries for so many owners. IMO decisions made with reason and logic held up a lot less this year than any other year i can remember. yuck!

The mini First Pitch tour will be in the WashDC area on March 7. This one's only $29.



NY is 3/8 and Boston 3/9. The prior weekend is Chicago and Cleveland, the weekend before that SF and LA.
