Since the results will be published and I don't have any sleepers, here's my team from #15 last night. BTW, we all passed on Santana in the 1st.

C Russell Martin

C Brian McCann

1B Prince Fielder

1B Ben Broussard

2B Ian Kinsler

2B Howie Kendrick

SS Khalil Greene

3B Josh Fields

3B Kevin Kouzmanoff

3B Mark Reynolds

3B Chase Headley

OF Jack Cust

OF Jayson Werth

OF Dave Roberts

OF Jonny Gomes

OF Carlos Gomez

SP Dan Haren

SP Chris Young

SP James Shields

SP Chien-ming Wang

SP Dustin McGowan

SP Zach Greinke

SP Tom Gorzelanny

SP Ervin Santana

SP Chuck James

SP Jair Jurrjens

RP Carlos Marmol

RP Ian Kennedy

RP Johnny Cueto

RP Kazuo Fukumori

I know I have an overabundance of pitchers and will end up dropping a valuable commodity, but this team is basically what I wanted to assemble.

As usual, comments/thoughts appreciated. I can't wait to see what the "experts" think, boy were you ever wrong about my teams last season.

There's some really nice teams and for a few of the participants.....be glad it's only December and you still have time to prep!

Patrick- Punting saves, I see. Did you take Martin at #16? Fielder over Santana I can agree with. Martin over Santana is a tough one. Unless you were planning on punting saves all along and needed the SB/HR from the C position. Curious as to your thinking. Overall, some very nice picks in the middle of the draft. Good luck!

Nice job on the pitching staff. I particularly like the upside of Grienke and Kennedy. Being that you punted saves you could have a hard time competing though with that OF. You have four guys that may not even start and one that seems to get hurt a few times each year. BTW, I drafted with you last night. I had the sixth pick.

I will throw my starting 23 out there for you all to chew on

C Mauer, Barrett

CI Ryan Howard, Alex Gordon, E Encarnacion

MI Brandon Phillips, Ryan Theriot, Freddy Sanchez

OF Alex Rios, Pierre, Francour, Winn, Jose Guillen

U Dmitri Young

P Harang, Smoltz, Lilly, Garza, Marcum, J Schmidt, Capuano, Izzy, Gagne

I like how the offense graded out- chances of both those guys closing and staying healthy are slim so I will be fishing for saves. I have some depth on my bench at starting pitcher and will need it and a pitcher or 2 off waivers to compete.

Overall I was very pleased to get Rios in the 3rd, Pierre in the 5th. Enjoyed it gentleman.

Assumijet- Jay Bruce went 21st round pick 7. I do believe he was the first "tuck away for later help" type pick.

Chest, if you get anything out of Schmidt and Capuano you will be very tough. Thats a nice squad.

GLU,

You got Shields! I am so surprised, my friend! ;)

Looks like you have great confidence in OF depth as your SP, C, MI, and CM were given precidence it appears. It may be just how you and I view things differently, but that OF will break your heart.

Love the pitching staff. You will lead or challenge in four categories. If Marmol becomes closer, you will end up middle of the pack there for saves.

Nicely done.

Kent,

When I first looked at your team, the first thing that struck me was the balance. This is the kind of team that could get 80% of available points in all categories. Gordon and Francoeur will be BA challenges (I thing '07 was Francoeurs career year BA wise), but you have enough top end BA talent to cover. A challenge to the other offensive counting stats will be whether you can overcome the power and RBI deficient Pierre and Theriot. One of these is hard, two will take some doing, but that observation is truly picking nits.

Great Pitching with some risk (of course) in Smoltz (age), Schmidt, and Capuano. But like what was said earlier, nice upside.

This team could challenge in my humble opinion.

2 guys that have formulas and stick with them. chest needs to pick up the entire milwaukee bullpen - i think steroids made gagne. he has a balanced team. glu- has won with his formula. when you are a "take my guys" drafter- i think 15 hurts- you have to go 20-25 picks ahead sometimes to get your guy. with this many good players- it is tuff. should get 55-60 pitching points- but he needs am outfielder- but he knows that and will get one off waivers. chest getting pierre at pick 64 was the big value of the first 4 1/2 rounds he could get 50 points with both pitching and hitting and could get 55 each. you assume no one will run away with it- but you never know.

Nicely done. Yeah Wayne, and I am sure he was salivating over Kazmir, but I took him out of his pre-jizz euphoria in the 5th.

Chest and GLU,

Did you guys leave players for anyone else? Glu, you punted saves and, er, an outfield, but the rest of the team is top notch. Chest, you didn't even punt the outfield and you'll at least get saves until mid-April. Well done!

Fireballs, unfortunately you helped the rich get richer.

bjoak ;) there were plenty of good players left for some.....and not so many for others.

I will say in fairness to some of the drafters that the system at MDC while first rate, DOES require some familiarity and practice and those who haven't done a draft since last year likely had some problems (and their positions need an update - I haven't checked all the teams for "legal drafts" but if you relied on those designations, might have problems)

Nice solid offensive team Jesse. Dont think Dempster is going to close and you could use a healthy Harden (perish the thought).

Exellent offense Perry. SP is a little thin. Love the front three, a little skeptical of the backend. Closers are shaky for my liking but saves can always be found.

IMO, saves are saves it doesn't matter where you get them and I know Jones and Percy aren't sexy and have questions, but the same could have been said about JoBo or Weathers last year.

As far as the SP, I happen to think highly of the progress that both Baker and Morales made last year. Bush, well if he proves last year was the outlier, fine - if not he hits the bricks, fortunately I will see him several times this spring - and I have replacements :D
