Chicago League 1: Howdogs’ $153 bid for Keith Ginter was the high bid in this league this week. vultures paid $87 for John Lackey, while Howdogs paid$85 for David Dellucci, FUPayMe shelled out $82 for Jaime Cerda and Big Mac Attack paid $77 for Brad Hawpe. Godfathers B.S patrol paid $89 for Ryan Madson, while Team Esposito paid $79 for Joe Kennedy, Scarface paid $74 for Keith Ginter, Godfathers B.S patrol paid $69 for David Dellucci and TLN JACKDNCOKE paid $55 for Chris Carpenter. Please explain how Austin Kearns is available in a league!!

Injuries of course. I have 4 DL guys myself and had to play Sexson this week in Chicago 2 (hoping he does make that weekend return.) Blanks will KILL your team in this thing. Once you have so many guys on the DL you need to let some of them go. Especially if you stockpiled SPs and are rotating to maximize starts.

I understand injuries (5 of my 6 reserves are on the DL, but Austin Kearns has too much upside to be cut IMO)

Is there a correlation between the fact that Kearns was waived in Chicago 3, and the fact that this league is 13th overall of the 13 leagues?

Everyone does, and teams that drafted known hurt guys like Nomar and Prior have no room to complain. But one of my main attractions to Sexson with the 31st overall pick was that he played a rock-solid 162 games last year. Erstad, Grud and Dave Roberts are gimps, so I got what I deserved, but throw a little Sexson in there and the DL can be a major blow to your strategy.



The above becomes an even bigger deal when you have 10 Sp's that you are trying to rotate. 14 active hitters + 3 closers + 10 Sp's + 4 DL = 31. Last time I checked we had 29 spots. I was forced to start Sexson (hoping he makes that weekend return) this week and drop a SP (Meche) that I would not of otherwise cut.



I’m not crying though. I’m currently 2nd in my league (4 points out) and 33rd overall.



Injuries are a great part of this thing, and they will go a long way in determining who ultimately walks away with the $100K.

You ARE competing against me, unless of course you don’t really have a team (which would not surprise me since you are not man enough to register.) Grud is certainly not a chump, his 7 for 15 week one performance may not be repeated, but it’s a nice boost to my average. He is a solid .300 hitter that can score 80 runs, something that helps balance out a team that is already packed with speed and power.
