I have a couple that I'll share with you guys (and girls)

FIRST GEKKO SNAFU

Last year my first 7 picks on draft day...

1 Johan Santana SP

2 Manny Ramirez LF

3 Ichiro Suzuki CF

4 Carlos Delgado 1B

5 Jim Thome DH

6 Ian Kinsler 2B

7 Takashi Saito CL

It came to my pick in the 8th round and I had a decision between B.Myers and R.Sexson. I ruled Sexson out of consideration because I mistakenly forgot about my CI slot and thought I couldn't use him.

To fix this, I have made a mental note to myself to be more diligent about keeping track of that stuff AND i will have a co-manager at the draft table to help out with roster management.

SECOND GEKKO SNAFU

I’m embarrassed to admit this, but I had very little minor league prep under my belt on draft day 2007. I barely knew anything about braun, lincecum, a.miller, pence, b.butler, etc…

To correct this, I’ve already spent an estimated 20 hours on minor league prep (about 18 more than last year). I anticipate another 20-30 hours on minor league prep prior to draft day.

To those sitting down with me at the draft table come March 15th, good luck!!!

Anyone else willing to share a SNAFU?

I spent hours searching for value in pitching and hitters ready to get to the next level or sustain a breakout season. Hello Lilly, Lowry, Hudson, A Gonz, Markakis, and Rios.

I said hey the first 4 rounds will take care of themselves no need to spend as much time there. Broke even in round one or lost a little, rounds 2-4 sh!t the bed. I will have to do better in 08 in those rounds and think differently.

Gordon my main top 7

1 Beltran

2 C Lee

3 M Young

4 B Hall

5 R Cano

6 C Cordero

7 D Haren

The 8th round for myself was my biggest miss, i was all set to take Bedard but Sexson was still there, his ADP was about 6th round and i couldnt pass on a 40 hr and 100 rbi man.Well Sexson was just brutal and Bedard was the fantasy pitcher of the year.

I actually learned my lesson at the NFFC. With football, my plan is simple, right or wrong, I pick the guys I think will score the most fantasy points. Sure, there is some thought given to positions and the like, normal draft mechanics, but in general, it was more a bully than finesse style.

In baseball, I get caught up in trying to out-think you guys, sacrificing performance. It's more finesse.

Well, those days are gone.

I spent Oct/Nov of 2006 deciding whether Baldelli was injury prone or just unlucky. Deluded myself into think he was just unlucky and would break out big time in 2007. I did not draft him in the main cause Terry Haney stole him from me. The fact he won $100,000 anyway shows just how good he was last year. I did draft him on several other teams however. The other thing I did was fall in love with some of the guys that came up big in 2006. A commen problem I think. Relying on those that came up big the year before. Each year you need to find the new "sleepers" (sorry Dan). Example 2006 got me Vizquel in the 23rd in lamost all my leagues which was great. 1 year later/older taking him in the 16th in some leagues was not a good idea.

Well, those days are gone. Watch out for Zola this season. Once you understand all the nuances and complexitites, then step back from it and simplify ... that is when you become dangerous.

Hey GG here's our first seven rounds

1-Vlad

2-C.Lee

3-C.Zambrano

4-M.Rivera

5-Swisher

6-Lugo

7-Lackey

My partner and I loved Zambrano in a contract year and we thought the Chicago offense would give him 15-18 wins,we got lucky to get as decent performance as we did.We passed on Peavy and Webb.

Swisher was my pick in the fifth round, he was going in the sixth to seventh round. What I wanted was the dual eligibility but I was wrong coulda had Fielder or Dunn at that point.Lugo was just a horror.

Our 8-10 picks of Ordonez,Cabrera and Beckett was what carried us , along with Lilly(16)A.Hill(19) and Blanton(21) and the huge pickup of Pena on the waivers. Without Pena our season woulda been finished, as both Crede and Chavez went down.

We were able to win a league title and finish 17th overall.

~Lance I wish I could make it to Vegas. However, that seems unlikely to happen this March--peak time for both work and family.

We'll clink glasses one of these days, Lance.
