Okay, if you're getting hungry for baseball info and can't wait any longer for some reading material, let me know and I'll send some magazines your way. As NFBC veterans know, we like to load up your goodie bags with magazines and this year we have four more to give you. This year we'll have:
2 Fantasy Sports Magazines
1 Rotowire.com Fantasy Baseball mag
1 Fanball.com Fantasy Baseball mag
We are going to send the first three out on Friday to anyone who agreed to pay the $10 shipping and handling fee when they signed up. If you forgot to do that or want to add that to your signup, you can still do that by e-mailing me at
and I'll get them out to you on Friday. No problem if you don't want the magazines ahead of time, but this is some good reading and some folks want that now rather than on Draft Day.
Enjoy the publications and good luck all.

Greg,
Did the next 3 mags go out on Friday, January 25th?
If so, I paid for them and have yet to receive anything.
Thanks!!

Thanks!! They actually went out on Tuesday. Give it another day and if you don't get it first thing next week let me know and I'll personally send them out. But I trust you were on the list to get magazines. They just went out a few days later than I had hoped.

No problem Greg.
My mailmen (our route is a bunch of "fill-ins") screw our mail up so much, I just wasn't sure if the guy up the street was reading my mags or not.
I'll give it a few more days.

That's a nice thing to say in a thread written by the publishers of one of those magazines.
Actually, it wasn't nice. It was pretty classless and embarrassing to read.

Actually, it wasn't nice. It was pretty classless and embarrassing to read. hey mr know-it-all. i talk with billy a couple times a week. i ALREADY know what resources he has assembled. they are more than enough IMO and already contain the info these magazines contain. [there is nothing wrong with the magazines greg offers]
with time of the essence, i'm trying to point billy in the right direction, not the wrong one. take it for what it's worth. if you don't agree with me, too bad. this is a message board.

All I'm saying is that you don't need to trash a magazine to make a joke.
Fantasy Sports has been a very nice read and also Rotowire. The Jeff Erickson's Top 200 in particular. I buy them at Barnes and Noble each year, that's a fun ritual even though there are others of course that come out even earlier through mail.

I know you aren't a fan of magazines for fantasy sports research, but I have always found them extremely useful (I'm obviously talking about football).
Regardless of whether you disagree or agree with many of the opinions found in numerous mags, it IS information, and a quality player can decipher the treasure though the trash.
Now whether I can do that THIS YEAR for baseball is a completely different story!

no problem. to each their own
I just think "knowledge is information", and if everyone JUST reads the Baseball Forecaster and uses that solely as their guide, it is hard to differentiate yourself from the pack.
That in NO WAY means I am disrespecting Shandler's research and opinions, as they have been MOST helpful thus far.

Billy, you read our magazine cover to cover and I promise you'll be better prepared for Draft Day than before you started reading. And you'll like the Fanball.com and Rotowire.com magazines too. You can never get enough opinions about players. It's up to you to agree with those opinions or disagree with them.
Use all three along with the Baseball Forecaster, Bill James Handbook and other resources and then set your own Cheat Sheet. That's the winning ticket.

Last year I got the forecaster late and I noticed before then that Anthony Reyes was going pretty early in drafts and I was like, what the hell is that, and then I looked the forecaster and sure enough, Anthony Reyes was priced very high there, and only there. Suckers!!!
-Mace and Bailey's

-Mace and Bailey's almost as bad as the suckers who bought into Felipe Lopez and used a 4th round pick on him.

374 suckers last year, plus Terry Haney.
