BJ Upton going well before Brandon Phillips.

Dan Haren at pick #49.

Crawford at #18.

All interesting.

Liriano at #94. As each of these type of drafts pass, Lirano moves farther and farther up the board. There probably won't be a more scrutinized player during spring training.

Brandon Phillips at #25? Some of the earlier buzz had him moving into the back end of the 1st.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

What is the big deal with Johan not going in the top 12? So, all the owners in the first round made a mistake?

Not so good drafting by several others I will admit that taking Santana in the first or early second round of a 12-team draft is much easier than taking Santana in the NFBC. I never felt hamstrung by taking Santana at this point as starting pitchers went off the board heavily in the third and fourth rounds, allowing me to grab good offensive players there. In fact, I had to jump back into the starters after awhile or my Santana value wouldn't have any value at all.

Now with the Mets, I like Santana a LOT at #14, but I still almost took Braun there. I don't have him in a single league yet!!

Honestly, I thought this was a very good draft. There are always some wild picks or guys who go higher or lower than expected. But I think this will be a very tough league and I look forward to competing for a title.

I took Crawford at #11 in the first KP draft and I'll likely target him tomorrow in the Sportsline.com AL Auction League. I like him and am surprised at how far he's fallen recently. I had choices between Santana, Braun and Crawford in the second round, which feels kind of nice. ;)

Liriano at #94 is high, but I think we have him at around 130. Remember, he had elbow surgery in November of 2006, so he basically will be out 18 months when the season starts. I think he's going to bounce back nicely, but right now it's all speculation. March will be very telling.

There is some speculation that the Twins will let Liriano start the season in Rochester.
