Give us your estimate of the date when main event drafters find out their draft slots. I promise I won't hold you to it! Well, we've been averaging about 30 signups per week for the main event, although this is when it gets tough. Once signups hit the credit cards, we usually lose a few, so we'll have some work to do, although we have less than 90 spots left.

Ideally, I'd love to see us sell out the first week of March, pick the leagues and draft spots on Thursday or Friday, March 6-7, have full 15-team leagues in each city with no phone hookups, and get you all your draft spots a week before Draft Day. That would be a dream come true!! :D

There were about four golf courses in that complex and everyone was going home in golf carts. That's where I want to retire so that my old bones can golf 36 holes a day and retire to the clubhouse for drinks before, during and after each round. :D I am too old to live in this frozen tundra year round, but I'd never leave in the late spring, summer/Packers' season.

Thanks all for the questions. I have to get back to work, but this was fun. Feel free to post any questions you still have and I'll try to get to them. We have Mike Sheets of Rototimes.com doing a live chat on Thursday and I trust Tom will jump in again from time to time. I'll do the same when I can.

Thanks again and good luck all in the NFBC in 2008.

Greg:

Should people who only play football or only play baseball "learn" and play the other sport to increase their potential commercial fantasy opportunites in the future?

the ultimate and 2500k leagues overlap this year. Is spreading them out in the future something you're thinking about or too hard to work given a 24 hour day Yeah, I had no intention of doing the Super this year, but I threw the idea out once I decided it was a good idea for football next year. I'm running out of time over those three days to do both and I'm not sure folks in New York will want to do it if we start at 6 or 7 pm on a Sunday night.

Options are the same time as the Ultimate and/or one to follow starting at 6 or 7 EST/3-4 PST. I think I need two options, one for those who just want to do the Super and would do it at the same time as the Ultimate and a later time for those who would like to do both. Any other ideas?
One idea is to have the Super start 6pm (or after the last main event finishes)Saturday. That way you can consolidate the interest with those that want the Super AND Ultimate or just the Super itself.

People are already there for the Main and don't have to come back Sunday (if the 2500k is more their speed).

People CAN do all three and still be out the door at 5pm Sunday afternoon.

ANOTHER option.. Maybe you have 2 time slots. A $2500k Super AFTER the Main and a $2500 Sunday at 1pm (same time as Ultimate). That REALLY gives the people some options. One Ulty cost broken into 2 drafts, 1 Super with 2 Super options times, a Super and Ulty... Either of them can be a phone hook-up too since they work flawlessly (in my eyes at least).

I LOVE planning Tom's Weekend in NY !! :D

I love fantasy baseball and fantasy football, but there's no way you could talk me into fantasy hockey or fantasy NASCAR just because there's a commercial opportunity there. I'd have no interest after Draft Day. Same for anyone else who enters these contests.
Yes, solid ideas. I always hate planning anything after the main event as that should be THE highlight of the weekend, but you are right it could work. Not a bad idea and if we don't fill this second NFBC Super Draft in the next few weeks it's an option worth exploring.

~Lance You know, the first time I met Jack Haan last summer in Chiago, he looked at me and said, "your moustache isn't that big!!" He said it always looked thicker on the pictures.

Listen, I'm a '70s guy who can't shave off his moustache after 30 years with it. It would be like making me dribble without my right hand, making me type with only my index fingers, drinking at home without cheese and crackers. It would feel and look weird. Everyone just let me hang in the '70s and enjoy this 'stache as it turns from black to gray!! :D
You talkin about your moustache makes me think of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry, George, and Kramer all have staches, and Jerry says to George, "I feel like an out of work porn star!" :D

How you keep that thing not turning gray, I have no clue. My goatee (when I sport it) is just as much salt as pepper these days. :(

How about a website? (or was that what you were refering to earlier in this thread?)

~Lance Definitely too slow for magazines. Absolutely on a web site though. That was the intention of buying an online content site as I wanted to make my top players stars on our web site. Heck, you saw how many people showed up for Shawn's live chat. Imagine doing that 20-25 times with others before Draft Day or during the season.

It will happen with our event, or if we don't do it someone else will and we'll be left behind. I don't want that to happen.

So keep working on your Lifetime Standings. The top ones will get an invitation for writing jobs soon, I hope.
Greg,

Now that is extra motivation to move up the Lifetime Standings! Does previous writing experience in the fantasy sports industry factor into that equation too??

Also, is everyone who has ever had a team in the NFBC main event included in the lifetime standings?
I agree. Put both options out there and see which one takes off. Perhaps they both fill. Personally, I'd only consider a Super 'Auction', which was briefly mentioned previously.

Ideally, I'd love to see the idea of a the Keeper Auction Saturday after the Main Event take flight. The 2nd time it was brought up, we got her half filled, but the only mention of it was here on the Boards and it quickly got buried. I have a feeling Greg has enough on his plate without trying to add that to the schedule this year. But I have no doubt, going forward, if it were given the same 'love' as the other NFBC offerings(listed with the all the other contests in emails, signup page, rules, etc.), we'd have no problems filling that one.

I like the Keeper Auction League idea, but that's one where we'd almost have to have all 15 owners in Las Vegas and I'm not convinced we could fill that. When the votes are in, I'll run!! :D
True, but remember part of that could be due to schedule/time constraints on Friday. I know it is in my case. There are almost 4 AL/NL Only Auctions filled up. I've played that $1,300 Mixed Auction League the past 2 years in Vegas. This year I thought I'd give the AL Auction a go. But since they're scheduled at the same time I can't do both.

Maybe you could schedule one at midnight Friday and offer free red bull to all participants! ;)

I'll give the Keeper Auction Post another bump and see what happens.
