I don't see a chat scheduledd for today and it seems like there are some of the better players on the boards - Gekko and Roundtrippers - maybe we could just have a roundtable discussion about teams or players?

Good idea Perry. I mistakenly had Mike Sheets chat yesterday when he was supposed to chat today. So my apologies to anyone who came here looking for that today. I'll make it up with my own chat tomorrow but I like the idea of having a roundtable chat today. So who's game?

Tom - what's the local line on favorites to win the 4th and 5th spots in the rotation for the Brewers?

MLW - I would love to see Villanueva get a chance - he has the talent
PHL - perhaps a straight platoon in RF would be best
GG - don't hex your sleeper from last year

I don't know about you guys but when I read that the Twins had signed Livan Hernandez, my first thought was:
Johan who?

Johan who?

Is Pujols going to drop out of the top round?
I say no. But I won't pick him until late in the draft.

Hex? Nah. Owners drafting victorino should be prepared to get less than 140 - 145 games from him. Granted he should be good while he plays.

Tom - he also lost the best part of his game....unless the Twinkies give him a few games at DH

John, I think Pujols is one of the biggest question marks in drafts this year. If you take him where he deserves to go and stays healthy you'll be fine. If you take him and this is the year he finally shuts himself down due to injuries you have a big hole in your offense. Or if you pass on him because of concerns over his elbow and he stays healthy and puts up his regular numbers, you've given someone in your league a value pick in the first round.
I honestly don't know what I'd do if he was on the board and I had that early pick. My gut says he might not be worth the risk but how can you pass on Albert Pujols?
Ask the folks who passed on A-Rod last year if that decision didn't gnaw at them throughout the season.

I won't be drafting Victorino unless he falls to the later rounds in the draft. What speed did Victorino show before last year?

I can chat a little. What is the topic? Local teams. I can do the A's and maybe Giants if no one more qualified would like to pick them up.

Brian - any questions or teams are fair game
But speaking of the two AAA teams in NoCal, does Ortmeier start the year at 1B for the Gints? Could he hit 30 HR in that park?

Bjoak,
Who do you see getting the majority of AB's in CF for the A's? Thanks

I think if anybody has some interesting stuff from their local teams they want to share that could generate some discussion. In Milwaukee, I think we'll see a CF platoon of Gabe Gross and Tony Gwynn Jr. to start off the year until Mike Cameron's suspension is over.

Brian Not that they are going to be any great fountains of Fantasy points, but what is the Giant infield going to look like on opening day?

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

The Braves are going to be all about rotation. Barring injury and Social Security, Smoltz, Hudson and Glavine are pretty set.
Chuck James may or may not be ready. I will be watching him closely, but he would be the fourth if he is healthy enough.
Behind that JoJo Reyes (live arm but lost his control in the majors), Hampton (oh, yeah, that guy) and Jurrjens will duke it out for the last (two?) rotation spots.
The dark horse to me is Jurrjens.
Another feel good story is Javy Lopez is back (oh, yeah, that guy 2) and claims to be in the best shape of his life and concentrating on learning how to catch. If McCann goes down or if Cox wants to give McCann regular rest, he could end up a decent #2 catcher for the Braves, if not Fantasy.

The Giants are terrible.
Sorry Giants fans but that lineup is as sad as any I've seen in a long time.

Wayne - certainly a lot of decisions to be made by the Giants.
Right now if I had to guess:
1B - Dan Ortmeier - plenty of power
2B - Durham or Frandsen
SS - Omah
3B - wild card here is whether they trade for Joe Crede (current rumor is Lowry to the White Sox for Crede if/when he shows he is healthy in spring training) - if not either Frandsen or Aurilia
Whatever - it won't be pretty
