Hey Randy

I am in your Sat league. It was a tough draft I look at my team and see the same thing. Where did all the players go and how quickly SP's went. I was happy to get Dice K in the 6th to anchor my staff. 3B was also tough by you taking Beltre in 6th Gordon going in 7th and Lowell in 7th I was forced to take Encarnacion in the 8th even though I think he will have a breakout year I thought I coulg get him later. In retrospect I thought I would get Utley at 7 and planned around that scenario. If i knew 3b was going to be that tough I would have taken Miggy at 7 instead of Holliday. Oh well

Good Luck

Marty Wow Marty, it is so funny how so many draft differ so much. Even though I am new to it, that is what I think is really cool about baseball! ;)

I drafted last night from the #14 and Chase Utley went ONE pick before me.

Ryan Zimmerman went at 7.13 (as I had him cued up!)

Gordon went with the last pick in the 7th (7.15).

Encarnacion went with the last pick in the 11th. (11.15)

Obviously 3rd basemen lasted longer in my draft, but I think pitching went fast, and the quality #3 and #4 guys dried up pretty quick.

I ended up starting off with Santana (which I wasn't counting on), and tried to put the best plan together that I could.

I got Dice K as my #2, and like you, I like him a lot this year!

Baseball is starting to grow on me!

Good luck! :D

You've had some good drafts billy. There's still time to get in the main event this year.

Hey Billy

You are right each draft is so unique. Utley at 13 in yours Utley at 5 in mine. Zimmerman in 5th in mine. Crazy. Nice having Johan and Dice K as a 1-2 punch. Johan went at 2-1 in mine. Usually most teams will lack somewhere. Hopefully you find a jewel later and manage to pick up where you lack in free agency. Hope my jewel is Votto as a CI. Good luck in BB this year. See you in NY for football I did not even realize that I was 4th lifetime in football. I will try to catch you there.

Hey Todd... nice draft. That was absolutely BRUTAL, no? There were some folks that averaged over 1 min per pick. No more weekday 9p drafts for me...

You've got a great squad. Saw you taking massive pop off the board in Howard, Ortiz, and Dunn and knew I wasn't gonna win the HR cat

Not too upset with my squad. Good tuneup for the Main.

I am tied up that weekend with some family commitments, but I admit that baseball is quite fun, and with an even better year of research next year (earlier prep), I feel I will be ready for the Main NEXT year.

Honestly, why would I even try and waste my $$ this year, when you already have the 100K check wrapped up? ;)

Billy - I have to agree with Mark: you are just delaying your success in the NFBC by waiting another year. Seriously man, I was impressed at the draft last night with how well you did for a "NFFC - no baseball" guy. There will be another learning curve in the main event, which is why you should get started this year - split a team with someone and get going.

Mark - really I have not gone back to look at the teams, run projections against the draft or analyze it, but BWaz made some Very Good picks.

I am 99% sure I will be there in 2009, and hopefully with a little luck, I won't be paying! :D

I feel I did do a decent amount of research, and that some of it is going to waste since I only did two $125 satellites, but I just can't do it that weekend.

Teaming up with someone isn't an option. I did that ONCE (a long time ago in a local league) and it was a disaster. Whether it is football or baseball, I want to make all my decisions whether they are good, bad, or ugly! ;)

Thanks again Perry! :D

This baseball thing is starting to grow on me also. :D

I'm really looking forward to my first NFBC main event next weekend!! Looks like I will have to try to win it this year since you will be in the NFBC main event next year. :D

Good luck with your satellite teams this year.

i was in that draft and couldn't believe all the crying about time for pks. my brother was in another satellite that started at the same time ours did and theirs finished almost 15 min's after ours! i asked him if ppl were whinin' about time for pks, he said no. if you live on the east coast and hafta get up early the next day perhaps you shouldn't have gotten into a 9 p.m. draft.

i say this as one of the guys who drafted quite fast, maybe 3-4 pks took longer than 10-15 sec's. isn't the draft the thing we look fwd to? also it's not like some of these complainers had their pks ready each rd. bottom line we all payed the same, if ya don't like it, don't do it. i am the guy who let reyes "fall" btw, i'd rather take my chances w/ jroll.

I was OK with the draft, my first one was done a little faster than the one last night. I think what sucked was that we had 3 owners in a row who took thier max time each round. We had 60 Picks that took 75 seconds or more and 9 picks took the full 90 seconds. That's over 75 minutes for two rounds of picks. Like I said I was OK with the draft but when you wait 8 minutes for ten picks till your next turn is a long wait for some when your use to mocks where it would take one to two minutes.

i went back & looked at the draft results and w/ the exception of lingering over taking mclouth in rd 18 (58 sec's) i had 1 pk take 28 sec's & the rest were under 22. in fact 19 of 30 rds i picked in < 10 sec's. That being said i have no prob w/ ppl using their alloted time. it gives me a chance to look over players & compare, strategize, etc. i understand the frustration for some, but we can't all be gordon gekkos!
