Word on the street is he is getting sent down to Triple-A. Hopefully no one drafted him as a starter.

If the Padres can't fit him in NOW with Edmonds hurt and Headley having a nice spring, he likely won't be seen again unless:

1) he thrashes Triple-A pitching AND Edmonds is out for the year

2) a Sept call-up

2) a Sept call-up McAnulty is having a good spring and is out of options, so he'll make the team as they attempt to trade him. Headley will work on his defense and be up long before September.

2) a Sept call-up I drafted him in the 23rd round, and have zero issues with that. He can enjoy sitting on reserve for awhile.

Expect Headley to get at least 450-500 ABs.

Hey Rasmus was sent down and I have no problem saying he will get 500 at bats.Anybody notice that he has been in the line-up every day since being sent down.If the demotion last past May 1 I would be shocked.

to continue the Headley quote ... "It should be only a matter of time before he's back up here," Padres GM Kevin Towers said.

Being sent down to start triggers the lower-end of my target, "at least 450". If they trade McCantly before the season starts, it goes back to 500.

FINALLY !!!!!!!!!!

The Padres will call up Chase Headley in time for Sunday's game against the Indians.

Looks like best he could do now is get 350 ABs.

Too little too late for the Padres season and they are paying for it in attendance this year.

[/QUOTE]They're 6.5 back of AZ. McAnulty/Hairston combined for a 233 BA while Headley tore up AAA. McAnulty had a decent OBP but made up for it with horrible defense, while Hairston had on OBP 50 points below Headley's BA.

If they miss the playoffs by 3-4 games I think the city of San Diego can thank K Towers for blowing it with this delayed move.

Food for thought for the Headley owners:

I was a Clement buyer and I started him him over G Anderson (.400 3HR 10 RBI) the first week after grabbing him.

I have Headley in a Sat and still remembering what Clement cost me his first week.

Debut goes 2-4. Just good to see his name in the lineup.
