Greg or someone who might know...





There is a player I would like to pickup that is NOT listed in the Free Agent Search and he is NOT on any ones team..



What can be done to bid on him???

i have first dibs on him.

If he's a player with no major league experience, he won't be available in FA until he actually plays, i.e., if Ryan Braun wasn't drafted last year, he couldn't be picked up until he actually played for the Brewers. Hope that helps.

If he's a Non-Roster Invite, he's probably not going to be listed. I have a complete list of the NRI's in major league camps, so if you want to confirm, please PM me.

What can be done to bid on him??? If he played in the majors last year, he should be listed. If not, then he will be listed in the free agent pool after he's made the 25-man roster. So you'll need to wait until rosters are finalized to bid on the player in question. Good luck.

[/QUOTE]Perhaps searchable, but you'd be unable to claim any of these players until they're actually added to the 25-man active roster or disabled list.



Just so we're straight, you've got a player in mind that if you type his name in the "Player Search" box, nothing comes up. I'd say it's greater than 95% probable that the player in question is not yet on a MLB 40-man roster. Like the players listed above, once he's added to the 25-man active roster or disabled list, you'll see his name on the free agent list.

Case in point: Morgan Ensberg was signed to a minor league contract and was a Non-Roster Invitee (NRI) for the Yankees this Spring. I went through the Third Basemen free agent list yesterday at around 5pm, and Morgan Ensberg wasn't listed. Last night, the Yankees purchased his contract from Triple-A and added him to the 40-man roster. This morning, Ensberg appears on the available free agent list.

Sounds like this could be another of Mark's Jeopardy questions. My answer is Who is Paul McNutty SD ?
