Greg Maddux Best opitcher in the modern era?

Post by BaseBrawler » Sun Apr 13, 2008 3:28 pm

Is Greg Maddox the best pitcher in the modern era of baseball? He now has 349 wins. If he can pitchs effective for 3 more years there is an outside chance of 400 wins.

With the knowledge of the steroid era now known I believe you have to put him ahead of Roger Clemens because of his steroid use.

the control that guy had/has is amazing! I used to love to watch him pitch more than anyone i can think of.

Johnny Cueto reminds me of a combo of him and Pedro. Cueto allowed his first career walk today. The control is unbelievable.

Maddux VS Clemens= Great argument.....

The AJC had a quote from Torre last night that basically said when Maddux throws, the pitches move all over the place and that Maddux has the "...guts of a burglar"! Must have been a vintage performance.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
