Mr. Gekko,
Has your opinion of Zambrano changed since draft day or is he still way overvalued in your eyes?

just like with cliff lee, numbers speak. after that...
still overvalued -- yes
of concern...strikeouts trending down, walks trending up
Zman and cliff lee are pitchers that i'll let someone else try to beat me with. their past is too checkered for me.
if Zman was a stock, i'd be buying some Puts and/or selling my positions as fast as i could

The problem wasn't that Zambrano was/is overvalued, the problem was that the consensus perception of risk that GG believed was wrong. Buying into such misperceptions is how you create low-risk profits in the stock market. Zambrano is a low multiple stock that now is trending higher because of strong fundamentals.
You want to ride a strong stock until its overvalued, buying options/insurance will just burn up what should be profits, bringing your returns back to mediocrity.

Duke – zman has reached his 52-wk perceived high for this year. The “market news” is such that k’s are going down while bb’s are going up. If this was a trading league, I’d be dumping him (AND CLIFF LEE) to owners like you in exchange for players who have underperformed to date.

His K's are down 1 per 9ip, but his walk rate is almost half of what it was last year.
That's some bad "market news" you have there....

The "story" was that his WHIP would be no good because he was hurt - and that his declining K rate and higher BB rate reflected this fact. This was partially a mirage from a bad start least season that masked very strong numbers thereafter. It was partially that he just has matured as a pitcher, and unlike when he was 25 he does not try to strike out every batter.
You can be a stock flipper if you want Gekko, but you'll leave a lot of money on the table. Better to do your research and know which ones will keep performing and ride them, than scalp small profits here and there by listening to what the "Street" has to say.

Hope you only bought puts in April, and didn't sell the calls. Margin man would be calling about now.

Groupy = 5 wins, 1.80/1.11 and 38 K's.
Non-groupy = spent a wad on Max hoping for a Zambrano-like outing.

too bad u can't sell high in a league like the NFBC [/QUOTE]If I could sell high I'd be shopping a guy like Volquez who has no history of success at this level, rather than a guy who pitches 200+ quality innings every year.

Trade vetoed in a league of mine:
Aybar and Lilli for Sheets and Sheffield. You make the call. Was it fair?

Why the veto? They're all flawed.
