Congratulations to Dallas Jones, whose Didley Squat team in Las Vegas League 7 topped the NFBC field last week with 3,327 points.
Big weeks from Mark Teixeira (.333-3-13), Aaron Rowand (.417-1-6), Bobby Abreu (7 runs) and Lastings Milledge (5 SBs) led the way offensively. Bronson Arroyo, John Danks, Aaron Laffey and Greg Smith combined for four wins while Mariano Rivera had three saves to lead his pitching staff.
For finishing first last week, Dallas will receive a free prize from FansEdge.com. Congratulations again to Dallas and good luck to everyone in the NFBC this week.

It’s been a strange fantasy baseball season so far. Ryan Howard got off to a wretched start. Chase Utley looks like Babe Ruth and the highly regarded Brewers’ offense has sputtered out of the gate.
Perseverance has been critical. Nobody knows that in the NFBC better than Dallas Jones. His Didley Squat team in Las Vegas League 7 has been on a rollercoaster ride since the season began.
Fortunately for Dallas, last week the ride went wild as his team topped the NFBC field with 3,327 points.
“I would like to nominate my squad for bi-polar team of the year,” Jones said. “Three weeks ago, Matt Treanor single-handedly out-produced my entire offense during a four-day stretch. This week I was lucky enough to win top honors. I think my team has reflected the topsy-turvy nature of the MLB season so far.
“The keys to this week's success were - Fielder and Teixeira performing like the Top 20 players I hoped they would be when I picked them first and second. I had great luck in grabbing Milledge off the free-agent list and getting 5 stolen bases during his first week with my team. I also had quality starts in eight out of nine outings and I had continued success from Rivera and Brian Wilson, who combined for five saves this week.”
Not a bad week in Jones’ first year in the NFBC.
“Besides making my hair go gray I'm really enjoying it,” he said. “To select my team, I used a best-available player strategy based on my own projections with adjustments for category scarcity as the draft progressed.”
Dallas lives in Denver with his wife and two teenage daughters “who are also making my hair gray.” He is retired from the information technology industry and in his spare time he enjoys watching the Rockies.
“Unfortunately, this season, they’re making me pull out my hair,” he said.
For finishing first last week, Dallas will receive a free prize from FansEdge.com.

Congratulations Dallas. I know you wanted the ultimate fantasy baseball challenge this year and you were excited when you learned about the NFBC. Losing your hair and having your hair turn gray are some of the side effects of this league, which I may have forgotten to tell you when you signed up.

It was great to meet you in Las Vegas and I'm glad you're enjoying your first season in the NFBC.
For one week at least, you can say you were the best of the best. That's pretty cool.
And FansEdge.com will allow you to pick out a replica MLB jersey and get your name on the back if you'd like or keep your favorite player's name on the back. It doesn't even have to be a Rockies' jersey. Maybe you owe Prince Fielder some love by ordering his Brewers' jersey for your very own.

Congrats again.

Congratulations, Dallas!
I was trying to recall where Dallas sounded familiar...then I remembered that Treanor story, and connected the dots!
THAT'S what I call a freaking turnaround!!!
Maybe the luck changed when I got off the couch screaming repeatedly BE OUT!!!
Having a name like DALLAS...of course Eddie's gotta love ya!
I now remove my one week worn, slightly tequila stained "Baseball-White Jacket" (like the green jacket in golf)...and put it on you!!!
Now we just need another Colorado connection to repeat his Week 10 weekly win from 2007...
...that's you, Uncle Dan!!!
Keep up the good work, Dallas!

Thanks everyone.
I think I'll have to stick with a Rox jersey; hey maybe some luck will rub off on them. However, in fairness to Fielder, if he delivers the 45 HRs that I penciled him in for prior to the season, I'll consider buying a second jersey.
The real prize will be wearing Lance's alcohol-stained hand-me-down. I'll add some Bacardi zest and then give it to next week's winner. Because I don't plan on having any more children, I'm going to name this shirt Eddie.
