A Look At The Top 25 Overall Teams
I thought I'd have some fun today and look at the Top 25 teams in the overall standings after 10 weeks and see if there are any consistencies among those teams. Was one draft spot better than the other? Is one person from the first round or second round carrying these top teams? Is one city more dominant than the rest?
It's interesting to learn that there are some similarities, but for the most part the picks after the first two rounds are making the difference for the winning teams and obviously the FAAB bids are also playing a role. Here's the data I've found thus far and we'll see if any of this holds up over time:
** The top nine teams all drafted from different spots. They include: 2, 4, 5,, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15. How interesting.
** The only spots not represented in the Top 25 are 1, 10 and 11.
** Spot No. 5 leads the way with four Top 25 teams, followed by No. 3 and No. 7 with three teams each. 19 of the Top 25 teams drafted between spots 2 and 9, leaving only six Top 25 teams between 12 and 15.
** Chase Utley is the MVP of the NFBC so far as he's on eight Top 25 teams. Next in line are Jose Reyes and Miguel Cabrera on four Top 25 teams, while Hanley Ramirez and Albert Pujols are on three Top 25 teams each.
** Here's the draft spots for the Top 10 teams:
1. No. 9 (Utley)
2. No. 2 (Wright)
3. No. 5 (Reyes)
4. No. 8 (Cabrera)
5. No. 14 (Soriano)
6. No. 4 (Reyes)
7. No. 15 (Ryan Howard)
8. No. 7 (Utley)
9. No. 13 (Pujols)
10. No. 5 (Cabrera)
Very interesting data with still 61 percent of the season still ahead of us. Good luck all.

ADP 388 ...and anyone paying close attention knows I have cast a curse on Mr. Volquez that should kick in tonight and last at least 3 games.

City breakdowns in the Top 25 are:
Orlando: 5 (1 out of every 9 teams)
Chicago: 5 (1 out of every 12 teams)
New York: 8 (1 out of every 16 teams)
Las Vegas: 7 (1 out of every 21 teams)
Once again showing Vegas is the toughest place to win from ... in fact, twice as hard as Orlando+Chicago if these stats hold up.

[/QUOTE]Volquez appeared human tonight but is still in line to get to the win...
I know it's close but Chase Utley - NFBC MVP so far. A bit of a surprise no doubt.
Does Hanley go 40-40 this year while hitting .300?
Biggest 1st rd disappointment- M Cabrera- although 2 of the top 10 teams drafted him.

I don't think Chase being the NFBC MVP or in the running is a surprise at all. Dude was the NL MVP last year until injured. Unfortunately I drafted 1st, 15th and 14th in the NFBC and sats, so I wasn't in a position to draft him, but from 5 on, I would have drafted him.
Did any of those teams have Rich Hill, C Young(SP), and a Johjima/I Rod combo? Or was I the only idiot/unfortunate bastard to do that to themselves?

Hindsight 20/20, but theoretically someone could have pulled off a draft like this:
1. Utley (ADP 8)
2. Berkman (ADP 25)
3. Webb (ADP 44)
4. fill in your own...
5. Chipper (ADP 65)
6. Hamilton
Sheesh...that would have been interesting
