Edward Nolan Is Week 13 Winner

Post by Tom Kessenich » Mon Jun 30, 2008 2:06 am

Congratulations to Edward Nolan, whose Bull Pen Pugs team in Orlando League 3 led the way in the NFBC last week with 3,373 points.

Big weeks from Bobby Abreu (.474-2-9), Jermaine Dye (.409-2-7), Ian Kinsler (.538, 7 runs) and Ichiro Suzui (.400, 4 runs) led the way offensively. His pitching staff recorded seven wins with Zack Greinke and Tim Lincecum combining for 21 Ks and Joe Nathan and C.J. Wilson combining for five saves.

This is Edward's second weekly win of the season as he also took home top honors in Week 13. For finishing first last week, Edward wins a free prize from FansEdge.com. Congratulations again to Edward and good luck to everyone in the NFBC this week.

Edward Nolan Is Week 13 Winner

Besting the competition in the NFBC once during the season is impressive enough. But twice? That’s rarified air.

But that’s where Edward Nolan is living after his Bull Pen Pugs team in Orlando League 3 led the way in the NFBC last week with 3,373 points.

“Boy, what a pleasant surprise,” Nolan said. “I mentioned during my Week 3 article how last year I just missed on a few occasions in winning a weekly prize and I have won twice this year. The fantasy gods are being kind so far – well at least for the weekly prize. Now let’s bring it home for the national prize.

“Honestly, I did not look at my weekly stats until Friday as I started to invest time in football reviews. I would say I spent 50 percent of my time looking at football the past two weeks due to a drop-off with the Pugs. Dropping out of the Top 20 several weeks and moving into the 50s was a little upsetting.

“This will surely remind me how long the season is and I need to stay vigilant with baseball as we have moved back into the Top 15 overall.”

Nolan is hoping a little good health will go a long way toward helping his team rise in the overall standings after the All-Star break.

“If I can just get Wainwright and Wang back after the break I will be very happy,” he said. “We made a few minor acquisitions the past few weeks, not key players but players that helped where my regulars had slightly slumped.”

For finishing first last week Ed will win a free prize from FansEdge.com. Interestingly, he had just finished ordering his Week 3 prize when he was notified of his Week 13 finish.

“I wonder if I can now upgrade to an actual field jersey worn by baseball teams, rather than the replica? Now I can get a matching jersey for the missus, I'm sure she will be happy,” he said.

Great job Ed, congratulations. Twice in the same season, that is cool but you need to give the rest of us a chance to catch up.
