W9 Forms Being Sent Out Today

Post by Tom Kessenich » Tue Sep 09, 2008 3:10 am

Hey everyone, with the season drawing to a close it's time to start thinking about who might win some money from us this year. This is the fun part of the season for us when we can start handing out prize checks for those of you who are having great seasons. To do that, however, we need to have W9 forms signed from you before we can send out your hard earned prizes.

We are going to be mailing out W9 forms to all of our prospective prize winners today. If you already have filled out a W9 form with us in the past year you don't need to fill one out again. But for everyone who stands to win money from us for the first time please fill this out and get it back to us as soon as possible. You can mail the form back using the self-addressed stamped envelope that will be provided or you can fax it back to my attention (please make sure it is to my attention - this is critical) at - 715 445-4087.

So look for your W9 forms in the mail this week. We're nearing the finish line of another great baseball season. Good luck to everyone the rest of the way.

W9 Forms Being Sent Out Today

I am guessing I am the only NFBC person who has 90+ points and is in 8th place. If they sent one out to me, they had to be shaking their heads, bewildered while they did it, but, hey, 5 more points and I'm in second. Really odd league/year. :D

Blank W-9 forms can also be found at www.irs.gov.

The form states your name, address, social security or tax ID number(You can fill all of these in on the blank form), and asks you to sign it as being true information that will be forwarded to the IRS with the amount of your winnings. a 1099-MISC is issued to you and the IRS.

Good info here. Thanks much. If anyone wants to download a form online that'd be great. You can fax your form to me at the number provided above. Again, make sure the fax is made out to my attention and you'll be all set.

Can you take out entry fees for next year before you send out prize money and fill out our IRS forms?

Can NFBC split prize money between co-owners as far as tax paperwork goes?

No, we pay out all cash prizes immediately after the NFBC season and then start taking signups for 2009 separately after that. Sorry, but legally that's how our company wants to treat all prize payouts.

One person will receive your prize money and that's the person who signed up and paid for your team. Congrats and good luck the rest of the way.

Just wondering how long it typically takes to get the prize money sorted out and checks sent after the end of the season.

Everyone who has a W-9 on file or sent in will be included in the first send of winning checks, which hopefully will go out around Friday, Oct. 12th. We'll announce all winners after the season is over and then work with our Cincinnati accounting office to get all of the checks in the mail as soon as possible.

Good luck all and congrats to all of the winners. It's been a fun, fun season and we'll begin taking signups for 2009 starting Oct. 2nd. The NFBC draft weekend is March 20-22, 2009.
