Two Weeks Left; One Point Separates $100,000

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Sep 15, 2008 4:35 am

Wow, with two weeks left in the NFBC season, ONE POINT is the difference between our first and second overall teams. That's amazing and the closest we've been this late in the season since 2004 when Artie Rastelli and Aaron Seefeldt were TIED two days before the end of the season.

Right now Kevin Kirves and Bobby Jurney are battling for the $100,000 grand prize with several other teams still in the hunt for the grand prize and the other Top 10 overall prizes. In case you're not in the main event and still want to follow things, here's a look at the overall standings as we head down the stretch. Good luck all.

1 FFBL's Finest Kevin Kirves Chicago League 4 1,521.0 1,734.5 3,255.5

2 Some Assembly Required 4 Robert Jurney Chicago League 2 1,554.5 1,700.0 3,254.5

3 Guess Who? Mark Srebro New York League 3 1,695.0 1,416.5 3,111.5

4 Masters of The Midway Rob Dykhoff Chicago League 3 1,598.0 1,511.0 3,109.0

5 MIAMI CANES Frank Heron Orlando League 2 1,596.0 1,481.5 3,077.5

6 Quahogs Stephen Jupinka New York League 4 1,737.0 1,314.5 3,051.5

Doherty

7 LONG GONE Kelly Uganski Las Vegas League 3 1,649.5 1,352.5 3,002.0

8 ALL-IN Jeff Dobies New York League 2 1,318.0 1,672.5 2,990.5

9 Pete's Picks Peter Lukowicz New York League 5 1,326.0 1,648.5 2,974.5

10 A-Team Billy McAleer Las Vegas League 5 1,696.5 1,269.5 2,966.0

There should be a prize for top player drafting in LV. With 8 of the top 9 drafting elsewhere it's never been more evident that LV is the toughest place to win from. Nice going Kelly.

Kelly must have been in a no-talent, all-blab, weak arse league. :)

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

It's also time to give kudos to two industry writers who have cracked our Top 20 this week. It's always good to see industry writers compete in the NFBC and put their reputations on the line against all of our other competitors and this year two sites are reaping the rewards.

The Fanball.com team of Ray Flowers & Ryan Houston are 17th overall with 2,899.5 points and the CREATiVESPORTS.com team of Scott Zeidman is 18th overall with 2,895.5 points. Great job guys.

Greg - Out of curiosity, the "prize" page shows 11 overall prizes. Your post references the top 10 prizes. The 11th place steam overall still wins $1300 or a free entry, correct?

Thanks in advance - Pete
OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

Is there a photo of the crystal trophy anywhere? Does it have, like, a little guy working a laptop on top of it? ;)
