The effect of the Baseball Gods

We all know that there are forces beyond our control. We call these the gods of sports. Improve that lie in the rough and the golf gods will cause a top or shank or a missed short near-gimme putt. Baseball has very strong gods and they will exact revenge.
On August 31, CC Sabathia threw a near no-hitter. This was the last game in a 9-1 winning streak for the Brewers. After the game, the Brewers now ex-manager complained loudly. He essentially felt that the individual glory that may have been afforded a hired gun pitcher was bigger that the fact that they won a game. CC shrugged it off but not Yost and the Brewers organization. This was a very bad response and got the ire of gods. And boy are they pissed.
Immediately after this game, the Brewers went on a 4-game losing streak. That streak continues still. In September the Brewers are 4-12 and now are clearly in danger of missing the playoffs along with Matt LaPorta who was dealt to Cleveland.
